Rumor has it that NBA odds shifted dramatically as soon as the NBA Draft Lottery was over. San Antonio came away the most successful of any of the teams. Now all anybody wants to talk about is Victor Wembanyama prop bets, and for good measure.
The other topic is going to be how many pundits are butchering his name over the course of the season. And betting the over seems like a safe pick. Charles Barkley is going to struggle like crazy when he gets his first opportunity to do a game of his on TNT.
NBA picks will be altered, and the NBA schedule will be catered to his schedule, probably giving the Spurs the type of attention that the 2003-04 Cavaliers also merited. A team that still has some holes and some growing to do, they will have to do it while being watched a little more closely.
His NBA player stats are going to be great right from the beginning; definitely, something to keep an eye on. The Spurs are very much a team in transition, so as they continue to go forward, it is also true that there is nowhere to go but up from here.
Let’s dive forward and start to discuss some Victor Wembanyama prop bets. The real reason for being here is to find out more about his projections. Shall we?
Points Per Game
The NBA team stats weren’t all that bad for the Spurs last year. But injuries, trades, and youth movement did lead to there being a different best player on a lot of nights. Wembanyama is projected to average around 18-19 points per game, his O/U being set at 18.5.
Thinking about the type of player that he is and is capable of being, this is a pretty good benchmark. It could have been something similar for Chet Holmgren if he was able to appear a season ago.
As long as he is able to stay off the NBA injury report, Wembanyama is going to be able to ball out like many believe he is more than capable of doing right from the beginning.
He is going to be learning from some of the city’s best players, while playing for one of the best coaches of all time. Gregg Popovich is clearly pretty close to retirement, but it does appear he is going to be sticking around to make sure the city is in good hands with their next star player.
Victor Wembanyama’s Unpredictable Potential
Victor Wembanyama prop bets are fun to dissect because, as good as he is coming in, it is hard to predict exactly what is going to happen. Going for the over on his points per game seems pretty safe, though.
His length will allow him Giannis-like finishes in the paint. He has a high release like Kristaps Porzingis and the height to match it. This will enable plenty of open looks from three that nobody in their right mind will be able to block.
Rebounds and Blocks
A lot of the biggest players in league history have struggled to be great rebounders. San Antonio’s position in the NBA standings will not hinge on how many boards the big Frenchman can grab, but it will certainly help. He is projected to put up 8.5 per game, and the under might be the move here. Kristaps Porzingis, Andrea Bargnani, and Yao Ming are three examples of giants who came through the league with an incredible offensive skill set.
None of them ever dominated on the glass. Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Manute Bol, and Shawn Bradley were indeed monsters out there, but could not be dominant rebounders. It is hard to catch up at times, and when misses aren’t coming right near the rim, they won’t be getting too many. Wembanyama seems like a way-more-talented, dangerous, and better-developed version of the modern Brook Lopez. And he hardly ever dominates on the glass.
As for blocks, the O/U is 2.5 and the over here should absolutely be hammered. No shot put up will be safe from Wembanyama’s reach. He will grab them all out of the air and lead the transition. That reach is nuts.
