Looking at the Memphis Grizzlies stats
The Grizzlies are led by third-year stud and All-Star point guard Ja Morant, who has posted a line of 26.8 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game. Morant is the driving force of his team and plays with unrelenting pressure and confidence.
Desmond Bane is the All-Star’s partner in the backcourt and is a candidate for Most Improved Player this season, averaging 17.9 points on 41.9% three-point shooting. Jaren Jackson Jr. finishes the trio of Memphis’ main men, with 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per night.
Memphis enters the contest with a 41-19 record and as winners of nine of their last 11 contests. They play at a breakneck pace and look to bring the fight to everyone.
Looking at the Minnesota Timberwolves stats
The Timberwolves currently occupy the seventh seed in the West, largely behind the stellar play of center Karl-Anthony Towns. The Kentucky product, fresh off of an All-Star appearance and three-point shootout victory, puts up 24.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per night while shooting 40.9% from beyond the arc.
Minnesota also has one of the league’s brightest young stars in Anthony Edwards, a gravity-defying second-year player that averages 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. The third member of Minnesota’s big three is D’Angelo Russell, a former All-Star who contributes 18.8 points and 7.0 assists per game.
Minnesota can be very up and down, and although their defense is weak, they can have unmatched outbursts of scoring. Memphis won seven of its last ten games prior to the All-Star hiatus and needs to continue racking up wins if it wants to move out of the play-in tournament.
