NBA player trades odds are about to pop off, folks. There are going to be moves made like crazy starting when things can be discussed on Friday night. Of course, the deals that trickle in immediately will be subject to tampering clauses. The big thing with NBA betting trends is that they will shift dramatically over the next couple of weeks. NBA stats will have the chance to be inflated for some of the new signees, proving themselves as worthy of all the potential new money.
It’s going to be a wild summer, with so many great possibilities. And when LeBron James’ son is presumably drafted next year, teams will want to position themselves to be able to pair him with LeBron himself. He has long claimed to hope to be able to stick around long enough to be able to play with Bronny. And knowing that, we may see some teams sign guys to larger, shorter-term deals with the hopes of landing the big kahuna.
NBA player trades odds are certainly going to go up as we draw closer to the season. But for now, let’s look at NBA odds for free agents to join some new squads.
Eastern Conference Hot Shots
Fred VanVleet
We start off with Fred VanVleet, an NBA championship is slated to land with the Houston Rockets. He will not be going back to the Raptors, and this feels like a lock. They are going to be expected to offer two years and over $85 million, giving the team yet another guard. +150 are his odds to land in H Town. As far as NBA picks go, this one feels kind of like a lock.
If it does fall through though, and he winds up elsewhere, the Miami Heat are next at +600. They need a Kyle Lowry replacement, and his former running mate in Toronto could be a nice fit there. He can shoot the three and defend at a high level. That’s all they truly need from that position while adding a guy who is capable of racking up the assists. Chicago and Philly are +700 to land VanVleet.
Khris Middleton
Though he is highly likely to re-sign with the Bucks, Khris Middleton is a free agent for the time being. The Dallas Mavericks are the favorites at +400. He would pair well with Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving as other scorers that can hold their own on the defensive end. They would be tough to beat in close games with all of them in the same squad. Dallas would surely have the money to pay him.
NBA news and predictions surrounding Middleton still don’t see him going anywhere, though. But just to entertain the odds, he would be +500 to go to Sacramento Kings, +600 to Houston and +700 to Miami. The championship experience he brings would be invaluable, and even coming off a year that saw him all over the NBA injury report, he would be worthy of bringing in. This is an All-Star we’re talking about.
NBA player trades odds will go up after more guys are signed. But keep your eyes peeled.
Reaves and Grant
If Austin Reaves left the Los Angeles Lakers, it would certainly make headlines. The Spurs are the current non-LA favorites to bring him in at +200. He would fit with their young core nicely, even already being 25 years of age after two campaigns. He would serve as a youthful veteran, already garnering great playoff experience with the LakeShow during the past season. Other teams in the race are Houston at +300, Toronto +400, with Orlando and Miami both at +600.
Jerami Grant may well leave the Portland TrailBlazers. It’s hard to predict exactly what he’ll do after spending the last year with Rip City following a trade from the Pistons. Indiana Pacers is the favorite at +250, and he’d surely fit in well next to Myles Turner with the talented Pacers. Sacramento at +300 could use his 3-and-D capabilities. Toronto is at +400, with Dallas at +500. OKC bringing him back sits at +600, while a return to the Pistons is at +800. He’s a valuable player in today’s game.
