Thinking about the weird playoff run James Harden just had, it is very hard to gauge his value. He has put up some of the best NBA player stats of any player in the league over the last ten seasons. During his first tenure with the Rockets, he was impossible to stop.
Harden went on scoring tears without missing threes or foul shots for stretches. He took them to within a single game of the NBA Finals. He went to the Nets and continued to light it up, regardless of who was on their NBA schedule.
James Harden props have always been insane because of what he has proven to be capable of. Whether it be one of the best scoring runs in the modern era or a wild triple-double streak. He has not accomplished a few things in the NBA.
NBA odds for his teams have often pointed towards title potential because we know him to be able to contribute. Now, whether it winds up being Houston Rockets or Philadelphia, one of them will be getting lucky.
Without further ado, here is a look at what he would bring to each team & how the fit would be.
James Harden’s Next Team Odds
Team | Odds |
Houston Rockets | -130 |
Philadelphia 76ers | -110 |
Phoenix Suns | +600 |
Harden to Houston (-110)
For all the inconsistency we saw from him during the postseason, Harden put up 21-6-11 for the regular season while sinking 38% of his threes. His scoring efficiency has obviously tailed off, and he probably will not be able to get back to his best. But he was an extremely efficient facilitator. He has been rumored to be thinking about an H-Town return since late in the playoffs.
Since that first came out, it has been taken very seriously, leading to them being at the top of the list. The best moments of his career all happened while he was there.
The craziest thing about his performances against Boston Celtics, though, is that he scored 40+ points twice but under 20 in each of the five other games. Go figure that they won both contests where he proved to be one of the toughest NBA matchups in the association. James Harden props are always tough to guess because he brings so much to the table.
The Rockets have a top pick in the draft later this week and a core of Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green to try and build around. Kevin Porter Jr. has been pretty up and down, while Tari Eason and KJ Martin have also flashed some potential.
It is a very young bunch with limited older guys. He would likely slot in next to Green, and perhaps they would move Porter. His fit would be interesting, but they would definitely try and make it work. With Ime Udoka, there is more structure.
Harden Back to Philly (+110)
NBA picks today dealing with The Beard are certainly tough to predict. Doc Rivers is no longer with the Philadelphia 76ers, which would surely entice Harden to reconsider what he wants to do.
This is going to be the first campaign in quite a while for Rivers without a job in the league after he failed to deliver a conference finals appearance for his team. Three years in a row, they got knocked out in the seventh game of the second round. Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, and then the Celtics.
It’s been tough to see the team choke for the past 20+ years, always getting to this point and faltering. Since Allen Iverson helped them past the pesky Toronto Raptors at the turn of the century, they haven’t cleared round two.
No matter what the James Harden props are, that alone would not be enough. They are rumored to be looking at Tobias Harris trades. And they’d better find some depth, having just hired Nick Nurse as the coach.
He loves to ride his starters, as he did during his team’s run to the NBA title. It worked then but hasn’t in these recent years. Maybe they can do business with his old squad to help things be a little familiar. Harden would slot back in next to Maxey as the playmaker and runner of the offense.
