What Will Be Russell Westbrook Next Team?

Russell Westbrook is one of the most polarizing figures in the NBA, but he is still one of the most talented as well. Westbrook had a very interesting and difficult 2022-23 NBA season, but he ended it well with the Los Angeles Clippers. 

One of the biggest questions heading into the NBA offseason is what will be Russell Westbrook next team, and there are going to be plenty of teams in contention. Westbrook is set to be an unrestricted free agent, and he will have plenty of chances to make up his mind as to where he wants to play. 

Westbrook can still put up some terrific NBA player stats when he is in the right situation, but that hasn’t always been the case over the last few years. Here are some of the odds for Russell Westbrook next team, and some of the options that might suit him the best. 

Clippers Remain the Favorite

Russell Westbrook finished the 2022-23 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, and that came after starting the season with the Lakers. Westbrook played some terrific basketball for the Clippers, and he impacted the NBA odds for them to win the title. 

The Clippers are the betting favorites at -300 to re-sign Westbrook and put him back with the team, but they have to worry about the salary cap. Westbrook has made comments indicating that he would like to stay in Los Angeles, but it might be out of his control. 

This is the safest pick if you are trying to pick Russell Westbrook next team, but sometimes the safest pick isn’t always the right one. Things can also change quickly in this league, and making NBA picks today might not be what you are going to be thinking the next day. 

Dallas Forming a Superteam?

The Dallas Mavericks already have Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, but that might not be good enough to win an NBA Championship. There are some tough NBA matchups for the Mavericks in the Western Conference, and adding a player like Russell Westbrook could help them get in contention. 

The Dallas Mavericks have the next best odds to land Russell Westbrook at +600, and he does feel like he wants to stay in the West. There would be some concerns about how well Westbrook would fit in with those two superstars, as he is a player that likes to have the basketball in his hands. 

You can expect Westbrook to spend some time seriously considering the Mavericks during free agency as that would help put him in position to win an NBA Championship. Dallas owner Mark Cuban is no stranger to handing out some big contracts as well, and he has lured other big superstars to the Mavericks throughout his tenure. 

Rest of the Odds

Before discussing some of the other teams that might try to sign Russell Westbrook this offseason, here is a look at the rest of the betting odds that are out there. 

Westbrook has spent his entire career terrorizing opponents that are on the NBA schedule, and many teams would love to have his services. There is no doubt that he will get calls from many teams, and he will basically get to choose where he wants to play next year. 

The Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls are next on the list, and both of these teams have rosters that are full of veterans. Westbrook is well respected by his peers, and there are players in Miami and Chicago that can try to lure him during free agency. 

The Memphis Grizzlies (+2000) could be an interesting option for Westbrook as that team will be without Ja Morant for the first 25 games of the season. It’s unclear how Westbrook would fit in after Morant returns, but he could help keep the team afloat. 

It’s also interesting to see the Oklahoma City Thunder at +3000 when looking at the odds, as this is where Westbrook started his career.
