There are going to be plenty of Trae Young rumors throughout the offseason and for good measure. It feels like it has been eons that John Collins has been on the trade market, and yet he remains a member of the team. They were rumored to be trying to shake things up at the deadline, but the only guy they brought in was Saddiq Bey, and none of their core members had to be moved in the process of making that happen. Discover the Trae Young transfer odds ahead.
When talking about the NBA player Trae Young, a lot of great things have to be said. He gets a lot of disrespect, but he puts up incredible numbers. Trae has led the league in total assists on multiple occasions. He is one of the premier long-ball shooters. In two of the past three postseasons, he has had a number of insanely clutch moments. His game translates well and though he gets a lot of flack, not too many NBA players can do what Trae can with the ball in his hands. And that’s the truth.
Making Backcourt Decisions
After the Atlanta Hawks moved Danilo Gallinari and a number of draft picks to add Dejounte Murray over the summer, it did create some possible positional issues here. But, he and Young were able to exist together on the floor. It doesn’t mean that it totally worked out, however. Atlanta had one of the most average years in the history of the league, hovering around/at .500 for almost the entire campaign. It’s almost comical how they would win and lose at the exact same rate throughout.
The NBA odds for the Hawks were never great, because they could never shake things off. When they fired Nate McMillan in the middle of the year, it was assumed that Joe Prunty would be the coach until they had an off-season search. They did something which has been done before, but it is not all that common. They hired their future coach off the street in the middle of the season. Longtime Utah Jazz head man Quin Snyder was given the role, and thus the philosophy changes began right away.
Murray was the off-ball guard most of the time, and they had a hard time keeping himself and Young involved this year when not running point. They did okay to space the minutes, but it is not perfect. An All-Star PG in San Antonio, it was hard for Murray to adjust. And Young hadn’t had to play off the ball during his time in Atlanta yet. NBA picks and parlays didn’t go in the team’s favor this year. So, should they move him? Trae Young transfer odds can’t be fully ignored.
The Future of the Hawks
There are no key free agents on the Hawks this upcoming summer, meaning that they have some interesting decisions to make. Bogdan Bogdanovic is tied up for another few years, as is John Collins. Clint Capela is still under contract and playing well, but they have now had Onyeka Okongwu as a backup for three seasons, so perhaps he wants more. It would be easy for him to walk and join another squad where he could take on a larger role if the team doesn’t increase his role even further.
Trae has his long-term deal already signed, while Murray is under contract, too. One of them will be here when next year starts, at the least. There is a chance they decide that they can still start together, believing it to be better than when Young was playing next to either Bogdanovic or Kevin Huerter. After a strong rookie showing from AJ Griffin, perhaps they will have to move some wing players so that he can get some additional time on the floor.
It is a team that will continue to double down on the three-ball, as Snyder-led teams often do. He wants the team to run up and down and fire up threes. And if Collins does get moved, they could throw an addition in as a starter. They could go small with DeAndre Hunter (should he remain here) and Saddiq Bey starting. There is good depth in the Hawks. Trae Young transfer odds may also rise if discussions aren’t public. Stay tuned.
