These days in college basketball, the sport is dominated by talented freshman and sophomores who use it as a stop-gap in order to go to the NBA.
Not many seniors dominate the game of college basketball anymore, and not many of them get drafted high in the NBA.
It is never a bad thing to have a senior-oriented team in college basketball because it means you have experienced and have grown together.
The NCAAB expert picks these days in college basketball usually rely on the incoming freshman talent coming into the respective college basketball programs.
There will be seniors that are going to make an impact for the upcoming 2022-2023 college basketball season. Who will be some of the Top Five Seniors in the NCAAB?
Top Five Seniors
Armando Bacot
- Team: North Carolina Tar Heels
Armando Bacot returns to a North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team that was an eighth seed in the NCAA Tournament last season.
North Carolina made it all the way to the final but lost to the Kansas Jayhawks. Bacot is going to be one of the Top Five Seniors in the NCAAB next season.
Bacot’s Expectations for Next Season
North Carolina will be one of the best teams in college basketball next season because of him. They have a veteran team around head coach Hubert Davis in his second year with the program after Roy Williams retired.
Bacot Stats
Armando Bacot averaged:
- 16.3 PPG
- 13.1 RPG
- 1.5 APG
- 1.7 BPG
- 0.8 SPG
In 39 games played last season.
His NCAAB stats should be very good again next season. Bacot could be one of the candidates to be the National Player of the Year.
The NCAAB odds will be very high for the North Carolina Tar Heels to win the 2022-2023 National Championship because of Armando Bacot.
Oscar Tshiebwe
- Team: Kentucky Wildcats
Oscar Tshiebwe was a double-double machine last season for the Kentucky Wildcats under head coach John Calipari.
Tshiebwe, without a doubt, will potentially be one of the Top Five Seniors in the NCAAB. He was very effective last season for them, and he was one of the reasons why Kentucky was a two-seed in the NCAA tournament last season.
SEC’s Popularity
The SEC is more known for its college football teams rather than its college basketball teams. Kentucky lost to #15th seed St. Peters Peacocks in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.
Tshiebwe Stats
Oscar Tshiebwe played in 34 games last season for the Kentucky Wildcats. He averaged:
- 17.4 PPG
- 15.1 RPG
- 1.1 APG
- 1.6 BPG
- 1.8 SPG
Last season. Tshiebwe is going to dominate the SEC once again this season.
Kentucky will be one of the best teams in the country because of Oscar Tshiebwe and could be in contention also for the National Player of the Year Award.
Tyler Wahl
- Team: Wisconsin Badgers
Tyler Wahl was one of the best players on the Wisconsin Badgers last season and could potentially be the focal point of the offense with Johnny Davis leaving for the NBA under head coach Greg Ward.
Wahl could very well be one of the Top Five Seniors in the NCAAB. Tyler Wahl has been with this program for the past few years and will provide leadership on this basketball team.
Wahl Stats
He averaged 11.4 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 1.5 APG, 0.8 BPG, and 1.2 SPG in 32 games played last season. The BIG10 is one of the better conferences in all of college basketball, and the BIG10 conference also had an interesting college football betting guide.
Tyler Wahl will have his numbers jump next season. He shot 51.6% from the field, only 16.2% from 3, and also 70.0% from the free throw line last season. Expect Wahl to improve his game.
Jahvon Quinerly
Jahvon Quinerly is going to be one of the better players at Alabama this season for head coach Nate Oats.
Quinerly has the chance to take his game to another level this season and be one of the Top Five Seniors in the NCAAB.
Quinerly Stats
He played in 33 games for them last season. Jahvon Quinerly averaged:
- 13.8 PPG
- 3.0 RPG
- 4.2 APG
- 0.2 BPG
- 0.6 SPG
He also shot 41.1% percent from the field, 28.1% from three, and also 74.0% from the free-throw line. Quinerly is potentially going to be a preseason SEC player of the year candidate.
He can score in bunches, and some of his stats will improve this season. Jahvon Quinerly will be one of the most explosive players in the nation next season.
Drew Timme
- Team: Gonzaga Bulldogs
Drew Timme is surprisingly returning to college for his senior season with the Gonzaga Bulldogs and he will be one of the Top Five Seniors in the NCAAB. Timme tested the NBA waters, but he felt like it wasn’t his time to go to the NBA yet.
Timme’s Comeback
Drew Timme will be back to play for head coach Mark Few. Gonzaga has been the number one overall seed in the NCAA Tournament for the last two seasons.
They lost to the Baylor Bears in the National Championship in 2021 with a chance to go undefeated, and Gonzaga lost in the Sweet 16 to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Timme Stats
Timme played in 32 games last season and averaged:
- 18.4 PPG
- 6.8 RPG
- 2.8 APG
- 0.8 BPG
- 0.3 SPG
Gonzaga will be in contention for another deep NCAA run because of Drew Timme. He shot 58.6% from the field, 28.6% from three, and 67.8% from the field last season. Drew Timme will be in contention for the National Player of the Year Award.
