The Big 12 will look a little bit different this season. While Texas and Oklahoma are on to the SEC, the Big 12 added several elite former Pac-12 teams, including the Utah Utes, Arizona Wildcats, Colorado Buffaloes, and Arizona State Sun Devils.

The conference might be named the Big 12, but there are now 16 teams with no clear favorite for this year’s Big 12 Championship outright odds.

Last NCAAF schedule, the Texas Longhorns added a Big 12 Championship and moved on to the College Football Playoff. That means we’ll have a new winner this season, as Texas, again, isn’t in the Big 12 anymore.

Despite the changes, the Big 12 is still one of the top four leagues in college football. Whoever wins the Big 12 this season will get an automatic top-four seed in the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

Big 12 Betting Analysis

The Big 12 already has five NCAAF teams in the AP Top 25 before the season begins, making it a competitive conference.

There’s also some uncertainty. How will the former Pac-12 members play in the Big 12? Will the travel take a toll, or will these teams prove how much better the Pac-12 was over the last few seasons?

Some of the biggest names to transfer into the Big 12 include K.J. Jefferson. The former Arkansas quarterback will now get under center for UCF. He struggled to find success with Arkansas last season, so it’ll be interesting to see how UCF gets him back on track.

Meanwhile, Colorado’s Dylan Edwards has moved on to Kansas State. Colorado is now a Big 12 team, but Edwards still decided it was in his best interests to transfer out of Colorado.

Speaking about Colorado, Deion Sanders is already starting beef with reporters for ranking him low in a Big 12 coaches article. This, after his team added just four wins last season.

At the end of the day, Colorado went from one win to four wins in one season under Sanders. That’s really good. But now Colorado will need to step it up a notch, and it won’t get easier in the Big 12.

Big 12  Previous Winners and Betting Trends

Oklahoma has won the Big 12 Championship in six of the last nine seasons, while Texas and Oklahoma were Big 12 champs in seven of the previous nine seasons.

Baylor and Kansas State were the only programs to win a conference championship after 2015, not named Oklahoma or Texas.

The NCAAF standings by conference will look odd at the beginning of the year. But the Big 12 teams are likely excited the two biggest threats are out of the conference.

The Utah Utes are most likely to win the Big 12 this season. They’re in unusual territory, preparing for their first season in the Big 12. That said, Utah will finally get Cam Rising back on the field.

Rising missed all of last season due to an injury. Before last season, Utah won back-to-back Pac-12 Titles with Rising at quarterback. Having a veteran as talented as Rising will be massive for this transition from the Pac-12 to the Big 12.

Additionally, Arizona lost head coach Jedd Fisch, who went on to Washington. But the Wildcats brought in Brent Brennan from San Jose State, who persuaded standouts QB Noah Fifita and WR Tetairoa McMillan to stay with the program.

It’ll also be fun to watch Ollie Gordon II do his thing at Oklahoma State, and it’ll be interesting to watch Jalon Daniels be healthy and back under the center for Kansas.

The Big 12 will be extremely competitive. Here are our two favorite futures bets for the season.

Utah Utes +320

The Utah Utes are filled with upperclassmen on both sides of the ball. Cameron Rising is a redshirt senior who started his college career in 2018 with the Texas Longhorns. This will be his sixth season with Utah and his seventh season as a college quarterback.

In addition, Utah was able to add to areas of need in the offseason, such as wide receiver and cornerback.

The Utes brought in Dorian Singer, who transferred from USC. They also added Kenan Johnson from Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who figures to start at cornerback.

Kyle Whittingham knows precisely what he’s doing. He’ll have his guys ready to go to start the season. The Utes look like the best team in the Big 12 on paper. They’re the best bet if you’re looking to make your NCAAF picks today.

Arizona Wildcats +1100

The Arizona Wildcats finished last season with seven consecutive wins. The coaching staff will look slightly different, but the offense won’t.

Noah Fifita will return after throwing for 2,869 yards. He completed 72.4% of passes and was only intercepted six times last season.

Fifita is a dark horse for the Heisman Award this season.

Meanwhile, the defense loaded up on upperclassman transfers on the defensive line and added two big-time running backs, Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Quali Conley. Both are senior transfers who will play a role in this offense.

But there’s nothing like the connection between Fifita and McMillan. That will be special for another season.

Just don’t sleep on Arizona this season when looking at the Big 12 Championship outright odds. They’ve won seven consecutive games coming into the season. They’re red-hot and will likely show off more talent than last year’s team.
