This just feels right. The Georgia Bulldogs came into 2022 ranked #3 in the country despite winning the National Championship last season, but after their 3-0 start, they are back to #1, jumping Alabama and Ohio State (who are also both 3-0).
One would assume the Bulldogs easily get to 4-0 as they host the Kent State Golden Flashes (1-2) this Saturday.
There’s no denying Kent State has their work cut out for them in week four, but this one really isn’t about whether or not the Golden Flashes can get a win.
The most telling thing to analyze in the Kent State vs Georgia betting stats is if the visitors can somehow keep this one within the -45.5 point spread.
Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Georgia Bulldogs Betting Stats
The -45.5 point spread is lofty, but surprisingly it’s not the highest UGA has faced so far in this season’s college football picks. The Bulldogs were -53 point favorites in week two against Samford, a game they ‘only’ won 33-0.
Bulldogs Performance Recap
Georgia did get SEC playoff to a strong start last week, beating up on South Carolina 48-7 to easily cover the -25 point spread.
The Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 130-10 through three games, also opening the season with a 49-3 thrashing of now #15 Oregon.
Kent State football should probably forget about trying to pull off the upset of the century and instead focus on keeping this one within the number.
Golden Flashes Performance Recap
You have to give the Golden Flashes credit as they haven’t backed down from quality competition with their college football schedule this season, losing 45-20 at #18 Washington and 33-3 at #6 Oklahoma.
You have to take the quality of competition into account, but Kent State had their offense working in a 63-10 win over the LIU Sharks last week, even covering the -40 point spread. Kent State covered the +33 against Oklahoma but barely failed to meet the +23.5 number in the loss to Washington.
Kent State Stats
Facing the Georgia defense is a bit different than matching up against LIU, so Kent State probably shouldn’t expect another 353 rushing yards.
Coach Sean Lewis spread the wealth last week with five different players having at least 40 yards on the ground, and QB Collin Schlee did what was asked of him, completing 10 of 12 passes for 199 yards and a couple of TDs.
Venables Over Riley
Oklahoma has been much more conservative this season with Brent Venables taking over for Lincoln Riley, but Kent State played OU tough in week two, going into the half down just 7-3.
The Sooners only ran for 134 yards on 36 attempts, although their QB Dillon Gabriel did hit on 21/28 passes for 296 yards and three TDs.
Georgia Stats
The Bulldogs’ success is once again headlined by their defense, as they became the last FBS team to allow a TD in 2022 when South Carolina Gamecocks got a 13-yard TD pass from Traevon Kenion to Luke Doty last week with 0:53 on the clock.
The score was already 48-0 at the time, so UGA can be forgiven for taking their foot off the gas a bit.
The Bulldogs come into the Kent State vs Georgia betting stats with the top scoring defense in the country, allowing a microscopic 3.3 ppg.
Bullgos’ at the Stats
Oregon did tally 140 yards on the ground in the season opener but still managed just three points. South Carolina carried the ball 30 times for just 92 yards last week.
While the defense will be fun to watch in the Georgia game today, this offense is no slouch, either. The Bulldogs scored TDs on their first seven possessions of the season against Oregon Ducks while amassing 571 total yards, and QB Stetson Bennett is completing 73.9% of his passes through three games.
Georgia has the #3 passing offense in the nation (376.7) and is 17th in scoring (43.3).

Ken State vs. Georgia Matchup Picks
Kent State looked real good in the first half against Oklahoma, but that may be saying more about OU than the Golden Flashes.
The Bulldogs have no weaknesses on either side of the ball right now in the Kent State vs Georgia betting stats, but they also have no need to run up the score against an overmatched non-conference opponent.
This one’s going to be right around the number, but that’s a lot of points to be giving.
NCAAF Pick: Kent State +45.5 (-110)
