Oklahoma, Texas Join the Mix
The premier conference in college football got stronger. Perennial powerhouses Texas and Oklahoma join to form a 16-team league, adding even more firepower to the top of the heap. Their arrival isn’t the only headline as Kalen DeBoer takes over at Alabama for legendary head coach Nick Saban.
Amidst all that change, Georgia remains the team to beat as it chases a third national championship in four seasons. The Bulldogs will be right back in the mix for an AP preseason No. 1 ranking with quarterback Carson Beck back in the fold.
That said, the SEC could have close to a half-dozen College Football teams competing alongside Georgia for a spot in the expanded College Football Playoff, including Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee.
Who will win the conference? Let’s break down the SEC college football odds.

SEC Betting Analysis
Georgia is the early favorite to win not only the SEC but also the CFP, with +310 NCAA Championship odds. The Bulldogs bring back a Heisman Trophy frontrunner in Beck and an outstanding supporting cast headlined by running back Trevor Etienne, a transfer from Florida, and a pair of All-American tackles.
Texas, on the heels of a trip to the CFP, looms as Georgia’s biggest threat on the SEC college football odds board. Quarterback Quinn Ewers returns for a third season, and the Longhorns’ loaded receiver room – led by transfers Isaiah Bond (Alabama), Silas Bolden (Oregon State), and Matthew Golden (Houston) – should speed along the transition from the Big 12.
The SEC could account for nearly half of the teams in the preseason Top 10, with Ole Miss, Missouri, and, obviously, Alabama also in the mix.
DeBoer faces a tall order trying to maintain Alabama’s place among the elites, but Jalen Milroe should help. Milroe enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, helping Alabama to its third SEC title in four seasons and seventh over the last decade.
The Crimson Tide are +700 to repeat, sharing the third-best odds on the board with Ole Miss. With eight schools priced 12/1 or better, the SEC could sport one of the deepest fields in years. Be sure to keep that in mind when making your NCAAF picks and parlays.

Alabama or Georgia? Georgia or Alabama? The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs have combined to win nine of the last 10 SEC titles, with 2019 LSU the lone outlier. Both schools remain atop the heap, though Texas’ arrival has muddied the field.
A rematch against Georgia on Sept. 28 in Athens, Ga., will be an early opportunity for Alabama to prove its staying power in the post-Saban era. The Crimson Tide also visit Tennessee (Oct. 19) and LSU (Nov. 9) while the Bulldogs travel to Texas (Oct. 19) and Mississippi (Nov. 9).
With so little margin for error, the SEC may be more fascinating than ever for picks and parlays for NCAAF.
SEC Championship Betting Picks
This may be the toughest conference to decipher, with roughly a handful of schools poised to be CFP contenders. Alabama, of course, is the defending champion, but the Crimson Tide face a brutal schedule as they adapt to life after Saban.
Texas may be better positioned to reach Atlanta, especially if Ewers lives up to his billing as a Heisman contender. The Longhorns get Georgia at home and miss Alabama, LSU, and Ole Miss on the college football schedule.
That said, at this point in the summer, Georgia seems like the obvious pick to win the conference. The Bulldogs, +190 favorites on the SEC college football odds board, are oozing with talent and have stability. Take them to win it.
