Vanderbilt, on the other hand, has played really well to start the season which has surprised some people. Vanderbilt is typically one of the more below-average teams in all of college football in terms of a power 5 team and that was evident a season ago as they went 2-10 and 0-8 in their conference.
Fortunately for The Commodores, they’ve managed to start the season with two wins and already have the same amount of wins as they did a year ago.
Vanderbilt was able to come away with a 63-10 win against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and a 42-31 win against the Elon Phoenix.

Vanderbilt has scored over 100 points in two games this season and now has an average point of over 50 per game.
They’re likely not going to be able to replicate what they did on the offensive side of the ball the first two games against a team like Wake Forest, but they should still be able to do their thing.
Mike Wright is coming off an incredible game against Elon where he threw for 245 yards and was able to complete 18 of 29 passes with four touchdowns.
Not only was he able to throw for four touchdowns, but he also rushed for 84 yards on 11 carries, which is an average of 7.6 yards per run, and had two touchdowns.
Against Elon
He was simply unstoppable for this Vanderbilt team, and that’s something to look out for in this game. One thing that could be worrisome for Vanderbilt is that their defense didn’t look too great against Elon.
Giving up 31 points and 495 total yards to a team like Elon is not going to cut it if they want to beat Wake Forest on Saturday.
Vanderbilt’s odds coming into this one aren’t the best at +8, but this team could shock a few people if they do come out and do the things that everybody knows they truly can.
