The Raiders will use Gardner Minshew behind center to start the season. Former Purdue quarterback Aidan O’Connell is next on the depth chart. Zamir White should get the first chance at running back, while Alexander Mattison is his backup.
The receiving core starts with Davante Adams, with Jakobi Meyers, Tre Tucker, and Jalen Guyton rounding out the top four. The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Brock Bowers out of Georgia, and he will likely be the team’s starting tight end.
For the Minnesota Vikings, Sam Darnold takes over after several seasons of Kirk Cousins. J.J. McCarthy, out of Michigan, was drafted and will be ready when called upon. Aaron Jones is now the lead running back for Minnesota. Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison still lead the receiving attack. This is still a talented bunch, but will need to make big improvements from a season ago and stay healthy.
In the end, we like Minnesota at home as part of our NFL Preseason Picks. The Vikings could win this game straight up, and we won’t be afraid to bet that. But, in the end, our favorite bet is the Minnesota Vikings +3.5 over the Las Vegas Raiders.
