Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Pick
The Falcons struggled to get anything going on Sunday against the Eagles and took a 6-32 loss. The Buccaneers were tested by the Cowboys in the NFL opener Thursday night, but they were able to come out victorious 31-29. Take a look of the Falcons at Buccaneers betting preview.
Short Memory for the Falcons
There is no point in dwelling on the first game of the season for the Falcons. It was a game to forget, and they have to do it quickly. If they thought the Eagles were a tough task, a Week 2 game against the reigning Super Bowl Champions could get out of hand quickly.
Veteran quarterback, Matt Ryan, was just over 50% completion going 21 for 35 for 164 yards. While those numbers are not great, Ryan’s biggest struggle came in his inability to get first downs, only recording 19 in the whole game. The one positive for Ryan is that he did not throw any interceptions.
The defense for Atlanta was just as bad as the offense. They allowed 264 passing yards as well as 173 rushing yards. Watching the game, it just seemed like the Philadelphia Eagles were able to do whatever they wanted to do the whole game. If the Falcons can not get the defense going quickly, they are in for another long Sunday.
Buccaneers Win Their First Test
Winning a Super Bowl is one of the greatest accomplishments for an NFL player. The thing about the season after winning is they are going to get everyone’s best test. That is what Tampa Bay got on Thursday night from the Dallas Cowboys. The Buccaneers were able to weather the late-game storm and find a way to pull off the two-point victory.
Tom Brady was solid on Thursday; if you were to ask him, he would more than likely say that he could have been better. He threw for 379 yards, four touchdowns but did throw two interceptions. The Buccaneers had two players with over 100 receiving yards in Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown. If their rushing attack can improve, only rushing for 52 yards, they have a chance to make another deep postseason run.
The defense will obviously have a much easier day Sunday than they did against Dallas. Their secondary was exposed, allowing Prescott to throw for over 400 yards. They did keep the rushing game in check, only allowing 60 rushing yards. Tampa Bay should make adjustments going into Week 2 and have much better results the rest of the season.
The Picks
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are -12½, and the points total is set at 52.
Immediately, the number that jumps off the screen is 12½. That is a ton of points to try and cover in an NFL game. However, in Week 1, there were six games that would have covered that spread.
The Falcons struggled to stop an Eagles offense that does not have many weapons. When Tampa Bay comes to town, on paper, they are much better than the Eagles.
Take Tampa Bay -12½ and under 51.
