The Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks in the second preseason game of the season at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday at Lumen Field in Seattle.
NFL Schedule
The NFL schedule typically sees more starter NFL matchups in the second week as teams ramp up toward the regular season’s start.
Particularly for two teams with young quarterbacks and new offenses should allow for at least a more competitive first half with Justin Fields and the Bears adapting to first-year coach Matt Eberflus.
Drew Lock is the new quarterback for Pete Carroll to get acclimated. Our Seahawks vs. Bears Betting Predictions tell us this will be an interesting game.
NFL 2021-22 Season Scoreboards
The Bears beat the Kansas City Chiefs in their preseason opener, 19-14, only after trailing by two touchdowns at halftime.
Tyler Ebner caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Siemian, which was followed by a Dazz Newsome 13-yard touchdown catch. Cairo Santos hit a pair of field goals.
George Pickens stole the show for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 32-25 win over the Seahawks last week.
TD Run Brought
A Geno Smith 2-yard TD run brought Seattle within 17-10 before the half and then Drew Lock found Dareke Young for a 3-yard score to tie the game at 17 in the third quarter.
Lock found Deejay Dallas for a 17-yard TD pass and converted a 2-point conversion to tie the game at 25 early in the fourth quarter.
Bears vs. Seahawks Betting Analysis
The Seahawks are 4.5-point favorites, NFL odds show. The over/under is set at 42.5, a bump from opening at 39.5. The moneyline shows the Seahawks are favorites at -195 while the Bears are at +165.
Bears Analysis
It will be interesting to see if the Bears can take a step forward offensively under Fields. The questions surrounding a weak wide receivers room and an offensive line that struggled persist, especially after gaining just 285 yards last week, averaging 4.9 yards per play and 4.3 yards per rush.
Seattle’s defense allowed a 121.9 passer rating last week, so a big step forward for Fields is necessary. The defense, however, was very good.
Top NFL Stats
They only allowed 205 yards – among top NFL stats – to a Chiefs offense that has been revered in the league since Patrick Mahomes III had his breakout season, and they went on to win a Super Bowl.
Chicago allowed 3.5 yards per play and 2.7 yards per rush. They also did not allow a point in the second half.
Seahawks Analysis
Seattle Seahawks did not play Lock, the key piece they received when sending Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos, until the second half. Instead, they relied on Geno Smith.
What resulted was an offense that moved the ball 339 yards, averaging 6.1 yards per play and also per rush after accumulating 159 yards on the ground.
Seahawks Defense
They completed 70% of pass attempts for 180 yards. Defensively, there were struggles, though. The Seahawks allowed 409 yards against them with an average of 6.4 yards per play.
They also allowed 6.9 yards per rush – 185 yards on 27 attempts. The passing game wasn’t great either, allowing the Steelers to complete 70.3% of passes for 224 yards.
NFL Injury Report
The Chicago Bears lost N’Keal Harry at wide receiver until late September at the earliest with an ankle injury. Offensive lineman Teven Jenkins is probably for Week1 while they lost fellow lineman David Moore for the season.
The Seahawks placed wide receiver, Cody Thompson, on the Injured Reserve with an undisclosed injury. Several others are listed as questionable.
Bears vs. Seahawks Betting Preview
One has to believe Fields has more potential than Lock, but he is still learning a new offense, and without a go-to receiver like Allen Robinson, it’s hard to see where he goes when he needs a nice gain.
That’s hopefully something the Bears learn this week. While that unit struggled, they played a Seattle defense they should have a field day against.
Pass Rush
The reverse is true for the Seahawks; their pass rush should have a strong showing against a weak Bears line.
Preseason NFL picks can always be tricky because Lock could start for the Seahawks, or the starters could be pulled early for some, putting the backups against starters.
Bears vs. Seahawks Betting Predictions
We’ll take Bears +7 since both preseason games were close for each team. Taking that hook is a nice reward here for two teams who are expected to struggle this season.

Betting on the spread or over/under yields the same -110 odds. A $100 bet on Bears +165 moneyline yields a $165 profit. Yet it would take a $195 bet to net a $100 profit on the Seahawks moneyline.
NFL Pick: Bears +7 (1.83)
