The defending AFC champions continue to work on dusting the rust off as they hit the road to compete against the New York Giants.
Defending AFC Champions
If this game was in the regular season, it would be one of the top NFL matchups of the season. Unfortunately for viewers, it is preseason, so the likes of Joe Burrow and Saquan Barkley either will not play or will play sparingly.
The Cincinnati Bengals lost their preseason opener while the New York Giants won the first preseason game of their NFL schedule, so the competition level will be high as they want to get in the win column as early and as often as possible. Coverage is expected to begin at 7:00 PM ET on NFL Network on Sunday.
NFL Scoreboards Record
- New York Giants: Won 23-21 vs. New England Patriots
- Cincinnati Bengals: Lost 36-23 vs. Arizona Cardinals

Giants Analysis
Overall the New York Giants should be much improved from their lackluster 4-13 record in the 2021 season.
In their preseason opener, they gave the starters a chance to get their feet wet this season while giving the backups plenty of opportunities to impress the new Head Coach.
Quarterback Tyrod Taylor was very impressive in the first week of the preseason for the Giants. He finished the game going 13-21 for 129 yards and one touchdown. He gave his team a chance to win and has shown he is a capable quarterback in the NFL.
Kayvon Thibodeaux Progress
The New York Giants coaches and management would love to continue to see the progression of their fifth overall pick Kayvon Thibodeaux the defensive end out of Oregon.
Keep an eye out for the young potential star, as he will most likely be near the top of the defensive NFL stats for rookies this season.
Bengals Analysis
The defending AFC champions are poised to make another successful run at a Super Bowl this season. While they allow for their starters like Joe Burrow to get healthy, they are giving ample opportunity to the young rookies who are hopeful to make the opening week roster.
With many of the starters out of the game, the Cincinnati Bengals suffered a loss in their preseason opener as they fell to the Arizona Cardinals 36-23.
Kendric Pryor Analysis
One player who, in particular, had a good start to his preseason was a wide receiver, Kendric Pryor. Pryor finished the game with four receptions for 89 yards and one touchdown. A great start to his preseason campaign.
The Bengals want to bolster up their defensive depth as that was a big issue at times for this young team. Their first three draft picks in this year’s draft were all on the defensive side of the ball.
Unfortunately, in Week 1, they gave up 36 points. Expect the Bengals’ defense to be improved since the start of the preseason.

Bengals’ Favor
