Houston Texans vs. New Orleans Saints Analysis
Looking at the NFL team stats, things have started well for the Saints in the preseason. They are scoring 24 points per game and allowing just over 20. Dennis Allen is the man in charge, and he has intentions of winning the NFC South and reaching the postseason.
Allen will turn to Derek Carr as his starting quarterback. The former Las Vegas Raiders signal caller will take over for Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston, who started last season.
Alvin Kamara is back for the Saints but will miss the first three games of the season. Kamara was off and on with his effectiveness a season ago, finishing with just two touchdowns on the ground. The Saints brought in Jamaal Williams from Detroit and added Kendre Miller, out of TCU, to help carry the workload.
Looking at the NFL player stats, New Orleans feels they have two of the best receivers in the game of football. The Saints need Michael Thomas to stay healthy this season, with Chris Olave continuing to improve. A season ago, Olave wrapped up his rookie campaign with 1,042 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
Texans’ Fresh Faces
The Saints start their NFL schedule for the regular season at home against Tennessee in Week 1.
The Houston Texans have faith in their rookie quarterback, C.J. Stroud. The number two overall pick is going to get the start under center. Will Anderson Jr., an outside linebacker from Alabama, was taken third overall. He is expected to start as well. Stroud gets the nod at quarterback over both Davis Mills and Case Keenum.
Stroud will use Nico Collins, Robert Woods, and Noah Brown as his top targets. Houston has high hopes for the hometown product in Tank Dell. Dell went to school at the University of Houston. The Texans also brought over Dalton Schultz from Dallas in hopes of being a good security blank for Stroud to throw to.
