The Indianapolis Colts put together a solid performance Sunday afternoon; however, they were unable to pull out a victory, losing to the Rams 27-24. The Titans went into Seattle, one of the toughest places to play in the NFL, as a heavy underdog, and were able to come out with a big three-point overtime victory 33-30. Let’s take a closer look to this Colts at Titans betting preview.
Can Carson Wentz Play?
With just under eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, Colts quarterback Carson Wentz was hit from behind and immediately was in pain. He went to the sidelines to try and get something to done to allow him to return to play, but the pain made it impossible. After the game, it was announced that Wentz had twisted both of his ankles on the same play.
Wentz was having a solid performance prior to the injury. He had completed 20 of 31 passes for 247 yards, adding a touchdown. After the injury, the Colts turned things over to their young backup Jacob Eason. In his five passing attempts, Eason was only able to complete two of them and ultimately unable to get his team in field goal range on his last drive.
The Colts’ defense made it tough for the Rams to get any sort of running game going. Allowing under 100 yards to the two main running backs for Los Angeles, the defense held its own in that regard. The secondary also had a good game, keeping Stafford under 300 yards passing. If the Colts are going to win against the Titans, they will need the defense to stop the run again, going up against Derrick Henry.
The Titans are Back?
The Tennessee Titans had a brutal first game against the Arizona Cardinals. They only scored 13 points and just seemed like they could never get any momentum going. This past week, however, they looked to be back to their old ways. Offensively, they were able to do anything they wanted to do against the Seahawks.
The big story of this game was Derrick Henry, who rushed the ball 35 times. He was able to accrue 182 yards rushing with three touchdowns. Henry was also able to help in the receiving game, pulling in six receptions for 55 yards. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill also had a huge bounce-back game, completing 27 of 40 passes for 347 yards.
Defensively the Titans still have a lot of work to do. They were very good against the run, holding the Seahawks to a combined 77 rushing yards. If Wentz does not play, the secondary may get a little bit of an easier matchup with Eason under center.
The Picks
The Tennessee Titans are -5½, and the points total is set at 48.
The biggest question mark in this game is going to be the quarterback situation for the Colts. Before betting on this game, make sure to double-check who the Colts are starting.
If Wentz starts, and the line does not move, take the Colts +5½ and over 48.
If Eason starts, and the line does not get over 6½, take the Titans and under 48.
