Rams vs Colts Betting Preview
After a successful home opener for the Los Angeles Rams, they will head to Indianapolis to take on the Colts. Indianapolis struggled to get anything going offensively against a solid Seattle Seahawks team.
Rams Preview: The Rams Looked Dominant
The Los Angeles Rams opened up their season with a Week 1 Sunday Night Football game in their home stadium. The field and the atmosphere looked great, and the players on the field played great. Stafford was able to come out firing, throwing a 67-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson on just his second pass of the game.
The Rams were able to display their depth as well. They had six different players with receptions to go along with three different players who caught touchdown passes. They also had a solid game from their running back Darrell Henderson Jr., who ran for 70 yards and scored a touchdown.
Although the Rams’ defense was not going up against a top offense, the Chicago Bears, the Rams were able to get big stops when they needed them. Aaron Donald drew a double team almost every play from the Bears until the last play of the game when he was able to get to the backfield and sack Dalton. If there was one concern for the Rams, they did give up 108 yards rushing to David Montgomery.
Colts Preview: First Week Jitter for Wentz
After sustaining an injury this summer, Carson Wentz missed a majority of the workouts trying to get his foot back to 100%. After watching the game Sunday, it seemed like the time off may have affected his timing with some of his receivers. Going forward, it is safe to assume this will quickly improve, as Wentz has one of the best arms in the league.
Jonathan Taylor had a breakout season in 2020, rushing for almost 1,200 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns. To start 2021, teams are going to make it a little tougher on him, and it showed in this matchup with Seattle. Taylor has 17 rush attempts but was only able to accumulate 56 yards. He did add six receptions for 60 yards to salvage his day.
The Colts’ defense was picked apart in the passing attack by Russell Wilson. He threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday. If the Colts are going to be competitive at all against the Rams, they are going to have to have better play out of their secondary guys.
The Picks
The Los Angeles Rams are -4 for this Sunday, with the points total set at 48.
This will be the Rams’ first trip on the road for 2021. The Rams were 4-4 against the spread last season during away games. They also covered the over four times.
This will be the Colts’ second home game this season. In their home opener, they were three-point underdogs and failed to cover that spread. They struggled to cover the spread at home last season as well when playing at home with a 3-5 record against the spread.
The Rams offense looked good on Sunday, and they are only going to get better the more time Stafford spends around the guys. Take Los Angeles -4 and over 48 points.
