Giants at Chargers Betting Analysis
On the New York Giants Side
Just as you’d expect, running back Devontae Booker has been the top-performing skill player for the Giants this season. He has 97 rushing attempts for 376 yards (3.9 yards per carry) with two touchdowns as well as 26 catches for 201 yards (7.7 yards per reception) with a receiving touchdown. In his last game against the Dolphins, Booker had just six carries for 36 yards (six yards per attempt) and four receptions for 18 yards (4.5 yards per catch).
The New York Giants have been a pretty good defensive team this season as they are giving up 22.8 points per game. In their previous game against the Miami Dolphins, New York allowed 20 points on 297 total yards of offense (229 passing, 68 rushing). The Dolphins struggled a bit to convert on the money downs as they were forced to go 6-of-15 on third down opportunities. New York needs to play a little better against the pass as Tua Tagovailoa averaged 5.3 passing yards per attempt.
On the Los Angeles Chargers Side
Running back Austin Ekeler has been playing this season for the Chargers but is dealing with an ankle injury that limited him at practice. Ekeler has 149 carries for 663 yards (4.4 yards per rushing attempt) with eight rushing touchdowns and 56 receptions for 518 yards (9.3 yards per catch) with seven receiving touchdowns. In his last game against the Bengals, Ekeler finished with 14 rushing attempts for 59 yards (4.2 yards per carry) with a rushing touchdown as well as five catches for 45 yards (nine yards per reception).
The Los Angeles Chargers have been struggling a bit on the defensive side of the field this season as they are allowing 26.3 points per game. In their previous game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles gave up 22 points on 356 total yards of offense (260 passing, 96 rushing). The Bengals were able to move the chains pretty well as they went 6-of-12 on third-down attempts and failed to convert on their only fourth-down opportunity. Los Angeles’ defense was able to force mistakes as they forced Cincinnati to have four turnovers (two interceptions, two fumble recoveries).
Giants at Chargers Prediction
These teams are currently listed for 43.5 points and that’s way too high due to injuries. Cornerback Chris Harris Jr and wide receiver Mike Williams are both expected to miss this game after being placed on the COVID list while quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) is doubtful and running back Saquon Barkley (ankle) is questionable. The best bet in this game is under 43.5 points as they are going to struggle to move the football down the field.
