The New York Giants will travel to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night to take on the Kansas City Chiefs to conclude the Week 8 slate. This season, the Giants are last in the NFC East with a 2-5 record and are coming off a 25-3 home win over the Carolina Panthers. Daniel Jones went 23-of-33 for 203 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs are third in the AFC West with a 3-4 record and are coming off a 27-3 road loss to the Tennessee Titans. Patrick Mahomes finished 20-of-35 for 206 yards and an interception.
Rookie Standout
The New York Giants have played well this season as they have a rookie wide receiver, Kadarius Toney. He is listed as questionable for the game with an ankle injury but has played well this season as he has 23 receptions for 317 yards (13.8 yards per catch) without the end zone. In his last game against the Los Angeles Rams, Toney had three catches on three targets for 36 yards (12 yards per reception). If he can play here, it will be a big chance to improve as a team.
The New York Giants have been a decent defensive team, allowing 25.7 points per game this season. In their previous game against the Panthers, they gave up three points on 173 total yards of offense (117 passing, 56 rushings). They did an outstanding job as the Panthers went 2-of-15 on third down and 2-of-4 on fourth down attempts. The biggest number to be proud of is that they limited Carolina to just 2.6 yards per pass attempt. If they can continue their momentum, it will be incredible for their chance to win.
One of the Top Wide Receivers
The Kansas City Chiefs have been a heavy-passing offense with wide receiver Tyreek Hill doing extremely well. So far this season, he has 52 catches for 641 yards (12.3 yards per reception) with five touchdowns. In his previous game against the Titans, he finished with six receptions on nine targets for 49 yards (8.2 yards per catch) without finding the end zone. If he can be a top receiver here against a subpar secondary, it will be a great chance to get back to .500 here.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been struggling on the defensive side of the football as they are giving up 29 points per game. In their previous game against the Tennessee Titans, they allowed 27 points on 369 total yards of offense (266 passing, 103 rushings). They need to get stops as the Titans went 8-of-12 on third down. They did a great job of limiting the running game as they gave up 2.9 rushing yards per game. If the defense can figure out how to improve, it will be a good showing for the Chiefs.
Who to Bet
Repeat after me: I will not bet on the Kansas City Chiefs to cover the spread. Good, now that we got that out, we can talk about the numbers. The Giants are getting healthier, and Patrick Mahomes is hitting rock bottom as he has thrown eight interceptions in the previous five games. Don’t forget that the Chiefs are not good defensively at all. Kansas City is 4-14 ATS in their last 18 games, so go with the New York Giants getting multiple possessions to cover on the road.
