NFC West Analysis
The NFC West used to be highly competitive. That was before the San Francisco 49ers took over throughout the last two seasons.
The 49ers went 13-4 in 2022 and 12-5 in 2023 to earn the top spot in the NFC West. The projections believe they’ll earn a three-peat and win the NFC West again this season, But if history indicates anything, no team has won the NFC West in three consecutive years since the Seattle Seahawks from 2004-2007. The Seahawks won the NFC West four straight seasons in that time.
Can the Seahawks, Los Angeles Rams, or Arizona Cardinals end the three-peat dream for the 49ers?
Let’s review the NFC West outright betting odds for the upcoming NFL schedule.

NFC West Betting Analysis
The San Francisco 49ers are certainly the team to beat. San Francisco will feature Christian McCaffrey at running back and Brock Purdy at quarterback.
Purdy was the fifth player in NFL history to record at least 30 passing touchdowns and 4,000 passing yards in his first season as a starter.
We don’t know if Brandon Aiyuk will stay with the 49ers now. However, as time has passed, it seems more likely that Aiyuk wants to be in San Francisco rather than going to a place like Pittsburgh.
On the other hand, the Rams will have second-year-wide receiver Puka Nacua lined up with a healthy Cooper Kupp. That duo together could be scary for an entire season. Yes, Nacua is a bit banged up from camp, but it seems like he can go to Week 1.
Next, the Seattle Seahawks will roll with Geno Smith out of the gate. But he’ll be on a short leash with Sam Howell behind him. Seattle didn’t make many additions to improve this season, especially on the offense. While DK Metcalf is a good receiver, he’s only had one elite season. He gets into fights too much.
Lastly, the Arizona Cardinals are a work in progress. Some analysts don’t believe in Kyler Murray, but now he’s got Marvin Harrison Jr. at wide receiver. That could help change a lot. But it’s hard to imagine the Cardinals going from worst to first in the first year with Harrison Jr.
NFC West Previous Winners and Betting Trends
The San Francisco 49ers won the NFC West in the last two seasons. While they’re favorites to do it again, oddsmakers believe the Los Angeles Rams could be the team to surpass the 49ers this season.
The Rams were the most recent team to win the NFC West, not named the 49ers. Meanwhile, the Seahawks won the division in 2020.
The last time the Cardinals won the NFC West was in 2015. But the Cardinals look to be improving, while the Seahawks could have a down year. Still, those two teams will likely finish toward the bottom of the standings this season.

NFC West Betting Pick
The San Francisco 49ers are the clear favorites to win the NFC West again this season. The offense looks complete, and the defense has always been the most consistent in the division over the last couple of seasons.
That said, Los Angeles Rams have a roster that can at least give the 49ers a run for their money. We also wouldn’t be shocked if the Seahawks finished in last place and the Cardinals surpassed them for third in the NFL stats.
San Francisco 49ers -195
Last season, the 49ers had one of the most efficient running games behind Christian McCaffrey. In addition, the receivers played lights out for Brock Purdy, and he was protected nicely by the offensive line.
Again, Brandon Aiyuk is a mystery. But this late into the preseason, it feels like the 49ers and Aiyuk are getting closer to agreeing on a contract. Aiyuk might not be a Tier 1 receiver, but he’s a good fit for this 49ers offense.
Meanwhile, the defense was great in coverage last season and put together one of the best pass rushes. With this year’s roster, none of that is expected to change.
The 49ers won’t just be competing for an NFC West title. They’re going after another potential Super Bowl run. It’s one of our favorite free NFL picks this season.
Arizona Cardinals +1300
We’re not saying the Cardinals will win. But at +1300, there’s value, especially if we like the Cardinals over the Seahawks this season. Arizona has a lot to prove this year.
Kyler Murray seems to be working well with head coach Jonathan Gannon. In addition, the offense could have run with two half-backs, including Trey Benson, who has made some noise in preseason.
In addition, Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch are two wide receivers that could see increased volume with Marvin Harrison Jr. in the lineup. Those two are capable of being great wide receivers.
Lastly, the Cardinals selected Max Melton in the second round of the most recent NFL Draft for a starting cornerback spot. They attacked a need and got a topnoctch prospect in return.
Arizona at +1300 is appealing when looking at these NFL betting odds.
