Injuries put a damper on what could have been a great career for Washington Commanders pass rusher Chase Young. The Commanders declined his fifth-year option during the offseason, so he will be a free agent following the 2023 season. What that means is there are Chase Young team odds on where he will go next.
Unfortunately for Young, his injury issues may make his next trip not as lucrative as it could have been. Young was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020 after recording 7.5 sacks, 44 tackles and four forced fumbles. Since then, Young has only played in 12 games.
Here’s a look at the places NFL odds think Young could land next.

A Look at the Teams
Detroit Lions +400
The Lions surprised some people by grabbing some offensive players early in the season. However, people looking for Chase Young news shouldn’t be surprised if Detroit ends up pursuing the defensive end. Detroit’s defense had a hard time slowing teams down early last season.
That’s what makes the Lions Chase Young team odds so appealing. Detroit could use Young on the opposite side of Aidan Hutchinson to help balance out the defensive line.
Seattle Seahawks +500
While Geno Smith’s story is a unique one, becoming a strong player after years of struggles, playing for Pete Carroll in Seattle seems like a strong spot for veterans to land. The Seahawks won’t necessarily need Young to be the man if they are involved in a Chase Young trade. After making a surprising run to the playoffs last season, Seattle went out and attempted to bolster its defensive front.
The Seahawks signed free agents Dre’Mont Jones and Jarran Reed, while drafting Derick Hall out of Auburn. Adding Young in a trade will provide a spark to the defensive line.
Chicago Bears +600
People making NFL picks and predictions expect the Bears to make an upgrade at edge rusher at some point this season. What makes Chicago an appealing trade target is the Bears have a number of draft picks available for next season to send back in return. When it comes to Chase Young team odds, the Bears’ interest in Young may be based on what they can find on the free agency market or how their defensive line looks in camp.
New York Giants +600
Every team in the NFL needs help when it comes to generating a consistent pass rush. The Giants are unique in that group. New York has the fourth-most cap space available in the NFL and could take on a veteran player’s salary.
The Giants also likely aren’t going to ask Young to carry the load for them. New York will likely look to use Young in a rotation and should be able to limit his exposure to injuries. While the Giants may not want to trade with a division rival, they may be able to wait until Young hits free agency if they want him.
Houston Texans +700
The Texans are still trying to dig themselves out of the void that was left after Deshaun Watson got caught in. While Houston’s quarterback situation has yet to resolve itself, the Texans are deficient in talent throughout the roster. The Texans brought in a lot of veteran players who aren’t exactly superstars.
Houston brought in Chase Winovich, Derek Rivers, and Jerry Hughes. Adding Young is a risk because of his injury history, but his pedigree is much higher than some of his potential teammates would be on the defensive line.
Young & Hungry
The Lions should be a team that is dedicated to taking risks on defensive players. Detroit just missed out on the playoffs last season and seems to have more momentum than they’ve ever had before. If the Lions can swing the right deal, they should make a good landing spot for Young.
