Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Analysis
Kansas City Chiefs Performance Recap and Analysis
It has been proven throughout the last few years that the AFC runs through Arrowhead Stadium. The Kansas City Chiefs finally figured out how to knock down their kryptonite of the Cincinnati Bengals as they clinched a spot in the Super Bowl. No matter which side you are on, it does seem like the best team in the AFC earned their trip to Glendale.
Do you know that one guy who is in a lot of State Farm commercials? Yeah, that is Patrick Mahomes, and he just so happens to also be leading the NFL MVP odds. On one foot, he carried the Chiefs to a Super Bowl appearance and looks to claim his second ring.
Kansas City is known for their offense, but their defense is slept on. They silenced the Bengals last week and have a lethal pass rush. That defense will need to be on full display if the running game cannot get figured out after a disaster in the Championship Round. The Chiefs had just 42 yards on the ground. Something has to change on Super Bowl Sunday.
Key Injuries
At this point of the season, it is inevitable that the NFL injury report will play a factor in the big game. It is a shame, but it is part of the game. The Kansas City Chiefs got pretty banged up against the Cincinnati Bengals last week, but hopefully, a full two weeks can work wonders on these players’ health.
On the offensive end, Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and JuJu Smith-Schuster did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday of the week of the Pro Bowl. That is basically the entire receiving core, but they made things work last week.
The player to watch on defense is L’Jarius Sneed. The defensive back suffered a concussion in the victory against Cincinnati and did not practice this week. A number of other players, like Isiah Pacheco and Jerrick McKinnon, are also on the injury report but participated in practice.
Most importantly, Patrick Mahomes was a full participant in practice. There is no world in which Mahomes will be 100% to end the season, but a banged-up Mahomes is better than most quarterbacks in the league.
Betting Trends to Know
They say good teams win and great teams cover, but that has not been the case for the Kansas City Chiefs. During the regular season, they went 5-11 against the spread. They did cover both games in the NFL Playoff bracket, however.
Throughout the entire regular and postseason, the Chiefs are a magnificent 16-3 on the moneyline. You may be surprised to hear that Chiefs games have gone under in 11 games this year, including the last two playoff games.
Philadelphia Eagles Performance Recap and Analysis
With Jalen Hurts on the Field, the Philadelphia Eagles are the best team in the NFL. Just look at their NFL team stats; when he is on the field, they only lost once this season. You can use the “easy schedule” excuse all you want, but the Eagles made the Super Bowl while 30 other teams have to watch on their couches.
A unique storyline to follow is all about Andy Reid. Many are calling this the “Reid Bowl” as the Kansas City Chiefs head coach spent 14 seasons with the Eagles. He is the winningest head coach in Philadelphia’s history. If Reid wins this game with the Chiefs, he will be the most winningest coach for Kansas City. When it comes to Chiefs vs Eagles betting, it seems like Reid is a winner regardless.
Looking at the regular and postseason, the Eagles have a point differential of 188. That is the best out of every other team in the league. Philadelphia wins, and they do so in a dominant fashion.
The Eagles are known for being the most balanced team in the league. They have the best offensive line in the league, a very potent offense, and one of the best linebacker rooms in the world. It is very hard to prepare to play a team like the Eagles, especially when Hurts is leading it all with some incredible NFL player stats.
Key Injuries
The Philadelphia Eagles have five players on the NFL injury report, and none of them practiced this week. Landon Dickerson, Avonte Maddox, Cam Jurgens, Lane Johnson, and Robert Quinn did not participate in practice this week. Keep a close eye on Quinn, as the former Chicago Bear is one of the best defensive ends in football.
We should also note that Jalen Hurts continues to state he is not 100%. He stated that his shoulder is “getting there.” He is certainly going to play, but this might not be the Hurts of the regular season.
Betting Trends to Know
Even with the impressive point differential for the Philadelphia Eagles, they were below average at covering the spread in the regular season at 8-9. They did, however, cover the spread with ease against the New York Giants and the quarterback-less San Francisco 49ers. Just like the Chiefs, they are 16-3 on the moneyline throughout the entirety of the season.
A trend to follow is how the Eagles fared ending the regular season. They failed to cover the spread in each of their last four games, and in that same stretch, the under hit three times.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Betting Picks
We could not have asked for two better teams to play in the Super Bowl. The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have incredibly close odds for a reason; they are the best two teams in football. Finally, now that we have the Chiefs vs Eagles betting odds, let’s give the best picks.
Take the Philadelphia -125 moneyline. As mentioned previously, the Eagles have the best offensive line and a potent running game. The Chiefs are not going up against the backups of Cincinnati anymore; this is the big leagues.
Given the small spread, the best pick is also Philadelphia -1 (Even). If you think the Eagles are going to win, it is a no-brainer to also choose them in the spread. As long the total is less than three points, the Eagles are the team to bet on when it comes to the spread.
Finally, this game is not going to go over 50½ (-110). Both offenses are amazing, but with the injuries–especially on the side of Kansas City–the firepower is not there anymore. The total is high for two teams that constantly hit the under, and the Super Bowl will not be any different.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Score Predictions
The Philadelphia Eagles will defeat the Kansas City Chiefs and win the Super Bowl by a score of 27-17.
