The 2023-24 NFL regular season is now complete, but there will still be plenty of action coming in the NFL playoffs bracket. Season awards are determined by what took place during the regular season though, and voters are not allowed to look at postseason performance.
There are some future awards that look to have already been decided, but that’s not necessarily the case when trying to pick the Defensive Player of the Year. There are several players in the mix to win this award, and trying to predict how the voters will go is not going to be easy at all.
Here is a look at the NFL DPOY odds and some of the top ways to bet on this market at BetUS Sportsbook.
NFL Defensive Player of the Year Odds
Player | Odds |
---|---|
Myles Garret | -245 |
Micah Parsons | +300 |
TJ Watt | +450 |
Maxx Crosby | +5500 |
Josh Allen | +8750 |
A Couple of Favorites
The NFL DPOY odds have been changing throughout the year, but they now appear to be set as the games have been completed. There have been many different players up at the top as betting favorites for this award, and a new name emerged right at the end of the season.
Myles Garrett ended up having some great NFL player stats to finish the year, and he is currently the betting favorite to win this award at -245. Garrett is not someone that is going to show up in the NFL MVP odds, and that has actually happened with previous top defensive players.
The Cleveland Browns have made the playoffs on the strength of this defense, and it has been Garrett who is leading the way. It might seem like Myles Garrett has this award wrapped up, but there are two other players in the mix as well.
Micah Parson is next on the list at +300, and T.J. Watt is in third place at +450. Both of those players helped improve the NFL team stats on defense for their respective teams, and each player helped their team make it to the postseason.
The NFL injury report does tend to impact this matchup, and Watt is someone who can’t seem to stay healthy and on the football field. Watt tends to impact games more than the other players, but it’s hard to argue against the stats that Parsons and Garrett have put up.
Now that the NFL schedule is completed, you aren’t likely to see any movement in those NFL odds.
Best of the Rest
Even though it looks like three players have emerged with the best NFL DPOY odds, there are still others that you can focus on when betting on this award. Checking out the NFL standings is typically how you will find some of the best defensive players because team performance does tend to impact individual awards.
Before diving too deep into some of the other names to consider, here is a look at the next seven players and the betting odds that are set:
- Maxx Crosby +5500
- Josh Allen +8750
- Danielle Hunter +8750
- Nick Bosa +8750
- Roquan Smith +10000
- Rashan Gary +15000
- DaRon Bland +20000
You will notice that the odds of winning this award fell off in a hurry after the top three players, but that wasn’t the case throughout the year. DaRon Bland set an NFL record this year with five interception returns for touchdowns, and he impacted many NFL matchups this season.
There are some years in which defensive backs are considered, but the winner of this award is typically someone who racks up a bunch of sacks. Players from this group are going to receive some recognition, but it would be a big shock if one of them were to win it.
