Last week in the NFL schedule, both the Eagles and Colts played games with results that shocked football fans everywhere.
The Colts got a win after firing their coach and bringing in someone who hadn’t coached in the NFL before, and the Eagles suffered their first loss at home to Washington and former XFL QB Taylor Heinicke.
This shuffle has some questioning their Eagles vs Colts betting picks as both teams seek a statement win this week.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts this season have had an abysmal offense paired with good defense, and after last week, they hope their offense will be able to start playing up to the defense. The Eagles have been really good on both sides of the ball though some have critiqued their strength of schedule.
At this point, it’s hard to question if they’re a good team, as they’ve shown total domination throughout the season, despite the hiccup on the road last week.
Philadelphia Eagles Performance Recap and Analysis
The Eagles are coming into this one off a short week and their first loss of the season against division rivals, the Washington Commanders. When looking at the Philadelphia Eagles’ standings, they still sit atop the NFC East and the NFL standings as they have the tiebreaker against Minnesota.
The Eagles have gotten to this spot by playing at a high level on both sides of the ball rankings scoring 27.3 points per game and allowing 18.6. This puts them in the top 10 in the league in both categories, 3rd, and 7th, respectively.
Jalen Hurts is putting up incredible NFL player stats. He currently has 354 rushing yards on 94 carries and has completed 180 of 265 on the season for 2,217 yards, 14 TDs, and an impressive 3 INTs, all while maintaining a 63.7 QBR. Benefitting Hurts are others stepping up around him like Miles Sanders has rushed for an impressive 710 yards so far this season, and AJ Brown has 725 receiving yards.
This offense puts up plenty of points while the defense plays lights out, holding opponents to 302.4 yards a game, the 3rd best in the league when comparing NFL team stats. Now getting their first loss out of the way, they no longer have the pressure of the perfect season, and I expect the loss last week to be just a bump along the road.
Key Injuries
Currently, the Philadelphia Eagles have Trey Sermon, Josh Sills, Sua Opeta, Josh Jobe, Ian Book, and Avonte Maddox listed as out on the NFL injury report.
Betting Trends to Know
The Eagles are 3-2 against the spread in their last five outings.
Indianapolis Colts Performance Recap and Analysis
The Indianapolis Colts have had a wild ride so far this season.
The Colts got off to an abysmal 3-5-1 record before firing their coach Frank Reich and bringing in Jeff Saturday, the former Colts center and ESPN analyst whose only coaching experience was in high school ball, where he went 20-16. Many doubted, but the Colts surprised all the haters by winning their first game under Saturday against Vegas last week.
The Colts looked like a new team against the Las Vegas Raiders. Matt Ryan was renamed the starter and was able to lead the offense to an impressive degree. When looking at the Indianapolis Colts’ stats offensively, they had their best day all season. Matt Ryan went 21 of 28 for 222 yards and 1 TD. Jonathan Taylor had an amazing day going 147 yards and 1 TD on 22 carries.
The Colts’ defense still has some work to do, especially in the passing game, but overall the Colts look like a new and better team under Saturday.
Key Injuries
The newest injury report for the Colts currently has added Jelani Woods, Deon Jackson, and Kwity Paye. The most notable injury news coming from Indianapolis is that Shaquille Leonard was put on IR last week, and there are questions if he will play at all for the remainder of the season.
Betting Trends to Know
The Colts are 2-3 in their last five against the spread, though, under new coach Jeff Saturday, they are 1-0
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts Odds
The NFL odds have the Colts’ moneyline set at +275, with the comeback on the Eagles set at -330. The spread is set with the Eagles as -7.5 favorites, a spread to take advantage of if you’re making Eagles vs Colts betting picks. The point total is set at 44.5.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts Betting Picks
Moneyline (Eagles -330)
I love what Indianapolis has in the works. I think the team is better with the reset, and I love Jeff Saturday as a leader. He has already proven to be more competent than some first-year coaches.
I would take the Colts to win against a lot of teams; unfortunately for them, Philadelphia is one of the tougher NFL matchups for them this week. You could make plenty of arguments that the Eagles are the best team in professional football right now. Now without the pressures of the undefeated season on their plates, I expect a return to form from Philadelphia.
Over/Under (O 44.5)
I think the Colts’ offense is better under Saturday as they put up the most points they have all season last week, and we know Philly can score. I love the over and think it’s one of the best Eagles vs Colts betting picks you could make this week.
Spread (Colts +7.5)
The Philadelphia Eagles have won by eight or more points in only four of their eight wins this year. The only teams they are beating by that margin are especially bad, like Houston and Pittsburgh. I think the Colts have made enough improvement to stay within 7, and more importantly, I think they believe they can win, so they will come into this game giving it everything they got to get another win for Coach Saturday.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts Score Prediction
I have the Eagles winning 27-21 over the Colts in a closely contested game.
NFL Picks: Eagles -330, O 44.5, Colts +7.5
