Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Chiefs at Eagles betting pick.
One is a surprise, while the other not so much, but Sunday’s matchup in Philadelphia pits a pair of teams looking to put a halt to their 2-game losing streak. Kansas City, the preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl, sits in the cellar of the AFC West division after a second straight loss, 30-24 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
After a season-opening win in Atlanta, Philadelphia also has dropped its last two games after being crushed in Dallas Monday night, 41-21.
Game Odds
Despite riding a 2-game losing streak Vegas is high on the Chiefs in this one. Sportsbooks have Kansas City as a 9-point favorite here but with plus-money odds to cover at +105 while having -125 odds on the Eagles to cover. This line jumped 3.5 points after Monday night’s game in Dallas as early Week 4 lines had KC at -5.5 before the Eagles’ 20-point loss.
Sportsbooks has the Over/Under set at 54.5 points, tied for the highest line of the week, with -110 odds on either side of the number.
What’s Wrong in KC?
Sunday’s loss to the Chargers was a combination of not-so-great defense and too many turnovers. The defense allowed 352 yards which was actually a drastic improvement from the first two weeks, but the offense turned the ball over four times.
For the season, the KC defense ranks 29th overall as it has allowed more yards (430) and points per game (31.7) than the offense has produced, 413 yards and 31 ppg.
Helaire, Nice to Meet You
Kansas City’s second-year running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire provided a little more balance to the Chiefs’ offense last week. The LSU product more than doubled his ground production for the season with 100 yards on 17 totes against the Chargers.
The 100-yard game was the third of his career and the first since carving up the Buffalo Bills defense for 161 yards on Oct. 19 of last season. For the season, Edwards-Helaire has 189 yards rushing on 44 carries.
Costly Turnover
Jalen Hurts was picked off on the first possession of the game Monday night, marking the first time the Eagles had turned over the ball all season. But it was not as costly as the second one.
On the third play of the second half, trailing 20-7, Hurts was picked off by his former Alabama teammate Trevon Diggs for a 59-yard pick-six, and the Eagles never recovered.
Happy Return
One of the bright spots in Monday’s loss for the Eagles was Zach Ertz. The veteran tight end returned from the COVID list and hauled in four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers doubled his season output heading into the game, as he now has seven receptions for 93 yards on the season.
Quez Watkins (7-186) and Dallas Goedert (8-132) lead the Eagles receiving corps on the season.
