The 49ers are third in the NFC West with a 2-4 record and are coming off a 30-18 home loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Jimmy Garoppolo finished going 18-of-27 for 181 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions.
The Bears are third in the NFC North with a 3-4 record and are coming off a 38-3 road loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Justin Fields struggled as he went 22-of-32 for 184 yards and three interceptions.
Breakout WR
The San Francisco 49ers have been doing very well this season throwing the football despite the quarterback as wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been doing great. So far this year, he has recorded 38 catches for 648 yards (17.1 yards per reception) with four touchdowns through the air and six rushes for 22 yards (3.7 yards per attempt) with a rushing touchdown.
In the last game against the Colts, Samuel had a great game as he went seven receptions on 11 targets for 100 yards (14.3 yards per catch) with a touchdown. If Deebo Samuel can continue to be a top-five wide receiver, it will be a great sign for the 49ers’ offense.
The San Francisco 49ers have been a decent defensive team this season as they are giving up 24.8 points per game. In their previous game against the Indianapolis Colts, they allowed 30 points on 295 total yards of offense (147 passing, 148 rushing). The 49ers did a great job defending the pass as they gave up 5.4 yards per passing attempt.
The defense did a good job on third down as well, as the Colts went 6-of-14 on third down and converted their only fourth-down attempt. If San Francisco can force field goals instead of touchdowns, it will really help the 49ers get some wins under their belt.
Fly Me to the Mooney
The Chicago Bears need to throw the ball more effectively, and wide receiver Darnell Mooney can be on the receiving end of that. So far in his sophomore season, he has 27 receptions for 345 yards (12.8 yards per catch) with a touchdown.
In his last game against Tampa Bay, Mooney finished with just two receptions on five targets for 39 yards (19.5 yards per catch). If the Bears can improve on the passing game here, they will be in a great spot.
The Chicago Bears have been a good defensive team this year as they are allowing 23.1 points per game. In their previous game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago gave up 38 points on 311 total yards of offense (168 passing, 143 rushing).
The Bucs did not convert well as they went 4-of-12 on third down and 1-of-2 on fourth down attempts. If the defense can continue to improve and the offense doesn’t give them short fields, they will be in a great spot.
Who to Bet on 49ers at Bears?
Justin Fields is improving, and I like his chances against a weaker San Francisco defense than Jimmy Garoppolo will have against the Chicago defense. Running back Khalil Herbert has shown the ability to carry the load, but David Montgomery is able to return off the Injured Reserve this week.
The San Francisco 49ers have been struggling to cover the spread as they are 1-5 against the spread this season. All in all, go with the Chicago Bears getting over a field goal in this game at home.
