Seattle Seahawks at Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview
Two playoff teams that had outstanding regular season’s in 2020-2021 will meet this Sunday in the matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and the Indianapolis Colts
The two teams will meet at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for their kickoff game of this 2021 season, and the game will be played at 1:00 PM EST
What Do the Colts Look Like Without Wentz?
Despite having a new starting quarterback for the 4th straight season, the Colts are still a young and strong team on the defensive end.
The team defense ranked 10th in the NFL in terms of points against, however they were within the top ten in forced turnovers thanks to All-pro linebacker Darius Leonard, last year’s rookie Julian Blackman, and last year’s free agent signing Deforest Buckner.
Offensively, running back Jonathan Taylor is coming off 1,000 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns as a rookie, but young receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Parris Campbell will have to step up in the absence of T.Y. Hilton to start the year.
Can the Seahawks Finally Return to Glory?
The Seattle Seahawks will enter another season with superstar quarterback Russell Wilson despite a lot of movement rumors over the summer, but there’s obviously pressure on this franchise to find playoff success for the first time since the 2014 Super Bowl.
Offensively, the Seahawks have the amazing weapons at receiver with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, and running back Chris Carson has quietly topped 1,000 rushing yards twice in the last three years.
Defensively, Carlos Dunlap II will return healthy and will give the Seahawks a more consistent pass rush. Jamal Adams is returning, and on a massive contract, and he should be more comfortable in his second season with Seattle. Bobby Wagner is also still a top linebacker, topping the league in tackles nearly every season.
Betting Preview
The Seahawks enter this matchup as -2.5 favorites on nearly every sportsbook out there, and given their finish last season at 12-4, I would expect them to have a strong season yet again this year. The Colts finished 11-5 last season, but with question marks at defense and the offensive skill positions due to injury, the Seahawks should be the clear favorite in this game.
The total in this game is listed at 48.5, which is a relatively high total compared to other games on the Week One slate. Once again, due to question marks offensively for the Colts, and the stifling ways of the Colts defense, I like this one to go under.
Seattle likely starts off this season with a road win in Indianapolis, but as stated earlier, the Seahawks worries for the season will most likely appear come playoff time.
Final Pick: Seattle -2.5 (-110)
