Before you know it, we will start seeing preseason hockey on tap. The National Hockey League schedule will be back soon, and the action promises to be as good as ever. We are early, but it’s never a bad time to start looking at the early odds to win the 2025 Stanley Cup.

Early Stanley Cup Contenders Emerge as Odds Are Released

Edmonton Oilers +900

The Oilers were oh-so-close a season ago. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid have proven to be one of the best combinations in all of professional hockey. This was a team that fired their coach and was dreadful early in the season. Edmonton got hot and stayed out. With most of their core coming back, with some health, they are going to be the team to beat out of the Western Conference in 2025.

Florida Panthers +900

The defending champions are the Eastern Conference favorites. Florida is bringing back Sam Reinhart and also made several other moves to bring talented players back to the Sunshine State. One of those key players was Anton Lundell. Once again, this is going to be a talented team. Now we will see if Florida can avoid the “hitting the wall” that often can happen to Stanley Cup-winning teams the next season.

New Jersey Devils +1400

There is all sorts of hype for this team heading into the 2024- 2025 season. The Devils made a big jump to get to +1400 NHL odds to win the 2025 Stanley Cup. New Jersey traded for Jacob Markstrom this summer, and they also added Brett Pesce and Brenden Dillion. New Jersey is excited to bring Dougie Hamilton back to the mix. Some are super high, while others still have doubts about this Eastern Conference squad.

Colorado Avalanche +1100

Colorado had a tough time competing consistently enough at a high level a season ago, with average goaltending at best. Now, we will see Justus Annunen get more of a chance to start between the pipes. He played 14 games a season ago and was fantastic. Getting Colorado at +1100 is a great value bet, because as we know, this team has a ton of talent.

Dallas Stars +1000

The Stars were the Western Conference top seed a season ago. Dallas fell a little short in the postseason but still had loads and loads of talent. It will be interesting to see if their 29th overall pick Emil Hemming will get a chance to join the team and help them out this season or not. Regardless, both the offense and defense are legit, and they could learn some lessons from the conference finals loss.

Vegas Golden Knights +1600

While many will remember Vegas losing in the first round of the postseason, many may forget this team is just a season removed from winning the cup. The Golden Knights lost a lot, as the salary cup crunch got to them, but they still have a boatload of talent in the Sin City.

Carolina Hurricanes +1400

The Hurricanes are excited to have Rod Brind’Amour back as their head coach. The Devils lost Brett Pesce and Brady Skejei, but they feel they have the depth to make up for it and still be a contender in the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes were good a season ago but lost in the second round of the postseason.

Toronto Maple Leafs +1600

Toronto is known for its good regular seasons. Their postseason success leaves something to be desired. They lost in the first round again last season. The Maple Leafs bring their core four back, despite rumors they were looking to eliminate Mitch Marner. Craig Berube comes in as the head coach and will bring a hard-nosed style of place to the ice. Toronto is listed at +1500 to win the Stanley Cup.

New York Rangers +1400

The Rangers fell a little down the odds, with several Eastern Conference teams ahead of them. New York was the top team in the regular season a season ago. The Rangers added Reilly Smith but did not make any other big moves. Fans will find out if the great 2023-2024 regular season was fools gold, or if this roster is built to continue winning. The Rangers are +1500 to win the Stanley Cup.
