Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks Betting Analysis
The Oilers didn’t play well at all in Game 1, even during the first half of the game when they held a 4-1 lead. Silovs let in some brutal goals and Edmonton seemed to fold with the lead. Still, the Oilers are among the NHL picks today to win the Stanley Cup for many reasons, most notably McDavid, who led the team in NHL player stats with 132 points (32 goals, 100 assists) and is one of the final three NHL picks to win the Hart Trophy.
McDavid was quiet in Game 1, held to just one point, and should put in a much better effort. The Canucks defense deserves credit, however, for keeping him to the outside and limiting his scoring chances. Vancouver Canucks finished T5th in NHL stats for goals allowed (2.7) this season and sixth in shots allowed (28.6). However, one has to wonder how long they can keep winning without Thatcher Demko, who is on the NHL injury report and may not play in this series.
J.T. Miller led Vancouver in scoring this season with 103 points (37 goals, 66 assists) and had a goal in Game 1. Elias Pettersson has been quiet for the Canucks in the playoffs with just three assists through seven games.
Adam Henrique and Draisaitl are on the NHL injury report for the Oilers. Draisaitl is questionable for Game 2, but it’s unlikely he will miss the game.
Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks Betting Picks
The Oilers need to respond with a better effort in Game 2 and they have shown the ability to do so in prior NHL scores following a loss during the regular season. There’s no excuse for blowing a 4-1 lead in the playoffs and only generating 18 shots on a third-string goaltender ripe for the picking. That means we could be in for a high-scoring affair in Game 2 of Oilers vs Canucks picks and parlays.
Draisaitl, assuming he plays, should be good for a goal. He has been the Oilers’ best and most consistent playoff performer in the last few years and has five goals in six playoff games thus far. And of course, if there’s plenty of goals, expect McDavid to at least get two points for the Oilers betting odds.

May 10 2024 Oilers vs Canucks Match Recap
It took overtime, but the Edmonton Oilers were able to come away with a 4-3 win on Friday night. This series is now tied up at 1-1, and both games have been decided by just one goal.
Puck Line: Taking the Oilers at -1.5 on the puck line was always a bit risky, even though that would have come with some value. Edmonton always seemed to be in control of this game, but they could never break it open.
Money Line: Edmonton was expected to even up the series by winning in Game 2, and that is exactly what went down. Those that trusted the Oilers at -145 got a nice win as they were able to sneak away with a win.
Total: This was expected to be a high-scoring series, and that’s why the total was set at 6.5 goals in this game. It took overtime, but the over was locked in as soon as the game was tied up at three after regulation.
