Pick Analysis
Only four countries have won the Women’s Olympic soccer tournament: the USA, Norway, Germany, and Canada. The Canadians managed a surprise gold medal victory at Tokyo 2020. But with Christine Sinclair’s retirement, Canada faces an uphill battle to defend its title.
The USA comes in as the favorites, with 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners Spain hot on their heels. When looking at the Women’s Olympic soccer betting odds, we like Spain at +200 and our dark horse pick is Japan at +1400.

Paris 2024: Women’s Olympic Soccer Betting Analysis
The US Women’s National Team (+170) has won four of the seven Women’s Olympic soccer tournaments. However, they’ve failed to win the last two Olympic Games and the rest of the world has caught up to them. They haven’t conceded a goal in four games under new coach Emma Hayes, though.
Spain dominated en route to a World Cup win in 2023 and have what it takes to win a second major tournament in a row. They boast Ballon d’Or Feminin winners Aitana Bonmati and Alexia Putellas on their roster. At +200 odds, they’ll be a popular pick for betting on the Olympic Games.
Hosts France show +500 odds as well and are certainly contenders. They’ve defeated Sweden (twice), Germany, and England this year alone. Marie-Antoinette Katoto is a Golden Boot candidate for Les Bleues.
The Women’s Olympic Soccer Betting Odds list Germany (+1200), Brazil (+1400), Japan (+1400), and Australia (+1600) as dark horses. Germany disappointed at the Women’s World Cup but Alexandra Popp and Lena Oberdorf are two big talents.
Brazil Women’s golden generation has come and passed but all-time leading scorer Marta is around for another international tournament.
Japan destroyed Spain 4-0 in the 2023 FIFA World Cup group stage as Hinata Miyazawa won the tournament’s Golden Boot. Japan, who were Quarter-Finalists at the Women’s World Cup and last Olympics, have the ability and cohesion to make a deep run here.
Australia are without key striker Sam Kerr while defending champions Canada will have to make do without the retired Christine Sinclair. Sinclair holds the record for most international goals of all time, with 190.
Colombia +2500, Nigeria +6600, Zambia +6600, and New Zealand (+10000) round out the field. Colombia and Nigeria aren’t to be underestimated given the Women’s World Cups they had.
Women’s Olympic Soccer Previous Winners and Betting Trends
Canada defeated Sweden in penalties in the Tokyo 2020 Gold Medal game following a 1-1 draw. The Canucks return seven starters from that team but they failed to get out of their group at the Women’s World Cup last year. Still, Canada have medaled in three straight Olympics, with two bronzes and a gold.
In 2016, Germany won their first gold but failed to qualify for Tokyo 2020. The outright women’s soccer betting odds price Germany at +1200 but they have also medaled in their last four Olympic appearances.
USA won the bronze medal at Tokyo 2020 and they won gold in 1996, 2004, 2008, and 2012. This is a much-changed team, especially in defense. They did win the Women’s Gold Cup this year, though, and are on a nine-game unbeaten run.
Norway won the 2000 Gold Medal but haven’t qualified for the Women’s Olympic soccer tournament since 2008.

Paris 2024: Olympic Women’s Soccer Betting Picks
Spain have outscored their opponents 23-5 in 2024 and recently won the UEFA Nations League under Montserrat Tome.
The reigning World Cup winners have big game experience and game changers even if this is their Olympic debut.
Japan are in the same group as Spain, like in the World Cup, and Japan have proven to be capable of impressive results. They’ve beaten four of the other 11 teams in the field in the last year alone.
With eight of the 12 teams in the field going through to the Quarter-Finals, we think Japan have a shot to make a deep run.
When considering the Women’s Olympic soccer betting odds, don’t sleep on Spain at +200 and Japan at +1400.
