Inter Miami CF vs. DC United Betting Preview
Inter Miami CF
Miami was completely dominated in all the soccer stats on Wednesday against New York Red Bulls. They were popular among MLS picks for the game but missed an early penalty kick. Inter Miami had more than 60 percent of the possession on Wednesday night, but they were outshot 18-6 in the game with only one shot on goal.
After starting the season 2-0, Miami has fallen apart offensively. They haven’t scored more than one goal against any of the MLS teams since May 13 and have allowed seven goals in their last four games. They remain one of two teams in the league to not have a draw on the MLS schedule.
Miami is 4-4 at home, but the goalscoring duo of Josef Martinez and Leonardo Campana have gone silent. They both have three goals on the season, but Miami has been shutout in two straight games. Miami is still without Gregore, Robbie Robinson, and Rodolfo Pizarro, all out with injuries.
Goalkeeper Drake Callender has allowed 19 goals in 15 starts and has kept only two clean sheets on the season. The lack of goals and the tendency to allow goals in big numbers has Miami at the bottom of the MLS standings.
DC United
The first half on Wednesday night was great for United but the second half was a disaster with a 2-0 lead turning into a 2-2 draw against Montreal. United salvaged a point but they had all three points in their grasp at home. Now they head on the road where they are 2-4-2 on the season.
Christian Benteke and Mateusz Klich run the offense for United and both had assists against Montreal. Benteke has seven goals on the season and has picked up the slack with Taxi Fountas injured. Klich leads the team with six assists and overall, he has eight goal contributions.
Goalkeeper Tyler Miller is in his first season with DC after three campaigns with Minnesota United. He’s allowed 20 goals this season in 16 starts, and United has surrendered two goals in consecutive games. In eight road games this season on the MLS schedule, Miller has allowed 10 goals with three clean sheets.
Inter Miami CF vs. DC United Betting Picks
Over/Under: Over 2.5 (-142).
The way both teams are allowing goals in big numbers, this should be a high-scoring game. Both teams should rotate the lineup as well with a third game in eight days.
Moneyline/Run Line: United +197.
DC United hasn’t been great on the road but it is tough to bet on Miami right now. When making Inter Miami vs DC United picks, look at United to win and Benteke to score.
