Nashville SC Betting Preview
Nashville SC finds itself sixth in the MLS’ Western Conference with a record of 5-3-4, showing the volatility in their results. They have won three of their last five matches and only lost once during this stretch, which came in a 2-0 defeat to the Houston Dynamo.
They won their last match 2-1 against CF Montreal thanks to goals from Alex Muyl and Hany Mukhtar as the team continued to climb up the conference ladder.
Mukhtar and C.J. Sapong share the team’s lead for goals scored, only managing three each. It is not a great sign that a team’s top scorer only has three goals after 12 matches, as great strikers tend to score once every two matches instead of once every four.
Thereby, it makes sense that Nashville is only one goal above the joint-lowest mark in the West of 12 total goals, shared by three other teams.
Nashville’s defense has also not been elite, though it has been better than the offense, judging by the performances of the surrounding teams. They have conceded the same number of goals they have scored, 13, and are tied for the fifth-best goal difference in the West.
Nashville usually sets out in a 3-5-2, and they are proficient both at retaining the ball and creating chances. They are not the most clinical bunch in the attacking third, but they have a good enough defense to put up with some of their offensive lulls, although they do need to increase their concentration on both ends if they want to move up from a potential playoff member to a guaranteed contender.
Nashville SC Projected Lineup
Here is how Nashville lined up in its most recent outing, keeping in mind that a certain level of squad rotation is expected: Joe Willis, Walker Zimmerman, Dave Romeny, Jack Maher, Brian Anunuga, Luke Haakenson, Dax McCarty, Daniel Lovitz, Alex Muyl, Hany Mukhtar, C.J. Sapong.
Nashville SC Injuries
Teal Bunbury, Irakoze Donasiyano, Randall Leal, Ahmed Longmire
Atlanta United FC Betting Preview
Atlanta is seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 4-3-4 record, although they have only won one time in their last five matches. They drew 2-2 with the New England Revolution, last year’s regular-season champions, their last time out, tacking onto a troubling run of form.
Offseason MLS picks and predictions liked Atlanta because of their boom-or-bust potential, but their results have been a little less impressive thus far.
Ronaldo Cisneros is the team’s leading goal-scorer with four in six matches and has filled in admirably for the injured Josef Martinez, who dominated MLS stats when healthy. Atlanta’s 17 goals ranks fifth in the East, keeping in mind they have played one less match than Nashville.
Atlanta’s defense is okay but certainly not good, having allowed 16 goals, nearly one and a half per match. They have not shut out an opponent in their last five matches, and even that was in an Open Cup game.
Atlanta likes to structure itself in a 4-2-3-1 more times than not, and although it is considered to be the most balanced formation, they do not specialize in any particular area.
They give away the ball too much and do not create tons of opportunities, but to their credit, they have managed to produce results. The next step for them will be turning draws into wins and slowly moving towards the top of the conference.
Atlanta United FC Projected Lineup
Here’s how Atlanta lined up in its last match: Bobby Shuttleworth, Alex DeJohn, Alan Franco, Andre Gutman, Brooks Lennon, Marcelino Moreno, Matheus Rosetto, Franco Ibarra, Ronaldo Cisneros, Luiz Araujo, Thiago Almada
Atlanta United FC Injuries
Osvaldo Alonso, Dylan Castanheira, Machop Chol, Brad Guzan, Miles Robinson, Santiago Sosa, Caleb Wiley
Nashville vs Atlanta United Picks and Predictions
MLS odds favor Nashville, and they have a great chance of winning. They are healthier, playing better, and have a defense capable of slowing down Atlanta.
Ride with the team in better form here, especially considering they are at home.
