The French Open is underway, and we have both the WTA and ATP going at it. The Roland Garros is the second Grand Slam this year, and we are ready for the exciting times ahead.
We witnessed the fiery event in Australia as Ashleigh Barty went on to pick the title in a slam dunk. Even though others put up a great fight, she was the best player in the event.
Unfortunately, a few weeks after her victory in Melbourne, Barty announced that she would be retiring from competitive tennis. She had already won the French Open, and Barty became the first Australian to win the Australian Open in 44 years.
Also, she was able to fulfill her dream of winning Wimbledon. Therefore, it was an illustrious career with an incredible record.
With Ashleigh Barty not competing at the Roland Garros this year, world number 2 and defending champion Krejcikova Barbora would be one of the favorites to win the competition.
Although Krejcikova pulled out of the Italian Open, she is fit to defend her title in France, and we expect her to put up a great show.
Last WTA French Open Records
In last year’s WTA French Open, the battle was fierce, and we saw top-class tennis players go head-to-head for the title. Although Ashleigh Barty pulling out might have helped reduce the competition, it wasn’t an easy road for the eventual winner, Krejcikova Barbora.
Iga Swiatek’s quarterfinal loss was one of the major shockers of the competition, as she lost 6-4, 6-4, to Maria Sakkari.
However, Sakkari couldn’t repeat her quarterfinal feat even though she was the favorite in the matchup against Krejcikova. Eventually, Krejcikova faced Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final and won the game. It ended in a 6-1, 2-6, and 6-4.

Women’s French Open Betting Analysis
Although Barty Ashleigh’s retirement was a big shocker, we’re having an incredible year.
However, this might be the rise of Iga Swiatek as the 20-year-old is on a roll, and with Ashleigh’s retirement, she took the number one spot thanks to her fifth straight title in Rome, earning a top seed spot in the French Open this year. As a result, she is the favorite going into this event.
Following Swiatek closely is the defending champion, Barbora Krejcikova. Although she didn’t do much in Australia, as she was knocked out in the quarterfinals to Madison Keys, she is one of the top competitors to Swiatek.
Therefore, we would be watching closely how far she can get and if the injury she sustained in the Italian Open would affect her performance.
Aside from Swiatek and Krejcikova, other contending favorites for the title include Paula Badosa, Maria Sakkari, and Anett Kontaveit. These players have shown that they can challenge the top players, and Sakkari was able to pull an upset in Australia by beating Swiatek in the quarterfinals.
Other honorable mentions include Ons Jabeur, Aryna Sablenka, Karolina Pliskova, Danielle Collins, and Garbine Muguruza.
Updates
A few big names are missing on the roaster as the games begin in France.
Three-time champion Serena Williams is still out of competitive tennis, and we look forward to when we will be back in the fray. Aside from Williams, we also won’t be seeing 2020 finalist Sofia Kenin as she is injured.
In addition to Williams and Kenin, Elina Svitolina will also be missing from the event as she pulled out to take a break because Russia invaded her country.
Additionally, she announced that she was expecting a child with her partner Gael Monfils. Therefore, we don’t expect her to be back any time soon.
Women’s French Open Betting Preview
With Krejcikova back in the fray following her withdrawal from Rome, the competition will be fierce.
However, Swiatek remains the leading woman for the title, and she would like to continue her incredible run of form. She is currently on a 28-match winning streak and has won five trophies this year.
Therefore, she is ahead in the running. However, it doesn’t guarantee that she will be the champion when the tournament ends in June.
The likes of Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, and the defending champion Krejcikova would certainly have a say in the event, and we might even see an upset.
Women’s French Open Betting Prediction
With the stage set and the qualifying rounds underway, we will see who will be crowned champion in the 126th edition of the Roland Garros. The tennis french open odds are out, and Iga Swiatek is the favorite pick for tennis betting oddsmakers.
Even though she seems to have the form, and with Ashleigh out, Swiatek can have a free run, we don’t think it would go her way this time.
We think one of the other challengers will take the title in this edition of the tournament. And our prediction is Barbora Krejcikova, and we think she will successfully defend her French Open title.
