The WTA Finals betting began on October 31 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, and will run until November 7. The pinnacle event on the WTA Tour, the WTA Finals, brings together the top eight ranked players for the chance to earn the crown as the champion of the WTA season.
Iga Swiatek, the winner of the 2022 US Open, was unchallenged for the top spot in the WTA Finals betting rankings. The 21-year-old Polish star had a winning streak exceeding 30 matches at one point this season and finished the year with 10,335 ranking points.
In contrast, the second-ranked tennis betting player, Ons Jabeur, had just 4,555 ranking points this season. Americans Jessica Pegula and Coco Gauff qualified in third and fourth place, respectively.
Maria Sakkari, Carolina Garcia, Aryna Sabalenka, and Daria Kasatkina were the final four qualifiers. Kasatkina qualified with just 200 more points than ninth-ranked Veronika Kudermetova.
It’s the WTA Finals debut for Jabeur, Pegula, Gauff, and Kasatkina. Highlighting the parity on the WTA Tour, this year’s event doesn’t have a single past WTA Finals champion or finalist.

WTA Finals Betting Updates (Group Tracy Austin)
The WTA Finals began on Monday, and has had two group stage matches every day since. The Group Tracy Austin features Swiatek, Gauff, Garcia, and Kasatkina. The Group Nancy Richey, meanwhile, features Jabeur, Pegula, Sakkari, and Sabalenka.
As of Friday’s action, only one player had been eliminated from the competition. Gauff, despite holding a first-set lead against Kasatkina on Thursday, fell to 0-2 in singles with a 7-6 (6), 6-3 loss. She’s also 0-2 in doubles with Pegula.
“I had a lot of chances. I didn’t play my best tennis today, but a lot to take from it, a lot to learn from it, and hopefully do better next time,” Gauff said after her defeat to Kasatkina. “In both the (singles) matches, I had opportunities. I think I made a lot of unforced errors. So I think that’s something that I will have to clean up.”
In Thursday’s other match, Swiatek scored a straight-sets victory over Garcia to punch her ticket to the semifinals. Garcia, meanwhile, will face Kasatkina on Saturday, with the winner earning the second semifinal spot out of their group.
WTA Finals Betting Updates (Group Nancy Richey)
Sakkari is the top-ranked player through two matches in Group Nancy Richey, with victories over Pegula and Sabalenka. She’s one of the popular WTA betting predictions to win this group, but she has her toughest test on Friday: a matchup against Jabeur.
Jabeur is 1-1, having beaten Pegula but lost to Sabalenka. Pegula and Sabalenka play in the other singles match on Friday. Jabeur kept her hopes alive with a three-set victory over Pegula on Wednesday night.
“It was tough because I’m used to just be depressed for the next two days when I lose,” said Jabeur after Wednesday’s victory. “I didn’t have much time here, and it was very tough to sleep the first day, to be honest with you.”
Sabalenka will earn the second semifinal spot in this group if she beats Pegula and Sakkari defeats Jabeur. Pegula, despite being 0-2, can still qualify if she beats Sabalenka and Sakkari beats Jabeur in straight sets. For Jabeur to qualify, she just needs to beat Sakkari.
Sakkari, at 2-0, is already into the semifinals alongside Swiatek.
Tennis Picks for WTA Finals
It’s not exactly the most fun and buzzworthy pick, but there’s a reason Swiatek is the top-ranked player in this tournament by more than 6,000 ranking points. She has had one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory and has carried that momentum through the WTA Finals betting.
Swiatek opened as the tennis picks favorite to win the WTA Finals and is listed at -175 after earning her spot in the semifinals. While she can be beaten, the fact that she has a few days to rest and can play without fear of being eliminated in her final group stage match should serve her well into the knockout round.
WTA Finals Betting pick: Swiatek -175
