On Saturday, September 3, the first of many future UFC events in France will take place with a top contender heavyweight matchup headlining the main card.
Cyril Gane (10-1) will be hosting Tai Tuivasa (15-3) in his home country on Saturday night. What can we look for this weekend, and can there be an accurate Gane vs. Tuivasa betting prediction?
Ciryl Gane is coming off a loss in his title fight against Francis Ngannou back in January, where he got outwrestled to a unanimous decision loss. Tai Tuivasa is currently riding a 5-fight KO win streak going into this weekend.
Gane vs. Tuivasa Betting Analysis
Ciryl Gane
Ever since Ciryl Gane has entered the UFC, you can tell that Dana White has taken a lot of interest in him as an athlete and ambassador of the sport.
This event in France has been a priority for the UFC ever since Gane started fighting in the organization and with the recent legalization of the sport in France.
Most Technical Strikers
Gane is one of the most technical strikers we have ever seen at the heavyweight division. He comes from a Muay Thai background with these quick, punishing kicks, but also moves around like a Karate specialist in the octagon.
You don’t see people of his size be able to move around the way he does and have such beautiful movements in a fight.
Gane’s Advantage
The technical and speed advantage is in Gane’s favor going into this fight. That is why UFC odds have him as such a big favorite against Tuivasa.
I also believe he isn’t in much danger with the grappling against Tuivasa, so it should be a pretty awesome kickboxing match in the octagon on Saturday.
Tai Tuivasa
The Aussie brawler has won fans over this past year or so. Tuivasa has turned himself into a star by drinking beer from a random shoe, but most importantly from his incredible performances inside the octagon.
Tuivasa Disadvantage
Tuivasa will have a technical disadvantage as I said before, but I think he will have the confidence to take chances and get on the inside to land on Gane’s chin.
Tuivasa’s boxing skill is still underrated at this point in his career, and his elbows from the clinch are very dangerous, as we saw against Derrick Lewis.
This bout will be interesting at any moment in time because of Tuivasa’s ability to remove his opponent from consciousness by just landing one punch.
Odds Breakdown for this Matchup
Gane opened at -300 and is now up to a -540 favorite during fight week.
Gane vs. Tuivasa Betting Preview
According to UFC odds, Gane is a big favorite at -540 going into this bout against Tuivasa. A proper Gane vs. Tuivasa betting prediction is tough to make with these kinds of odds.
Gane has almost no value at that big of a favorite, which I believe should never be the case for a heavyweight MMA fight, especially a top 3 ranked fight.
Look for Gane to use his movement and strike from a distance against Tuivasa. He will look to find his range early on and use leg kicks and pop shots to find openings to inflict serious damage onto the Aussie fighter.
Gane vs. Tuivasa Betting Predictions
Making a Gane vs. Tuivasa betting prediction is probably the toughest one out of all UFC picks for this event.
I really like Tuivasa and his ability to find his opponent’s chins in a number of different situations in the octagon.
We saw Tuivasa get hurt against Greg Hardy, then knock Hardy out on his back foot. Then he won wrestling scrambles against Derrick Lewis, which led to an elbow in the clinch that knocked out “The Black Beast.”
Most Profitable Fighter
For these reasons, I truly believe it would be a mistake not to make a play on Tuivasa, especially at these odds.
Tuivasa is going to have a tough time in the early rounds. If he can keep his cool and find openings in Gane’s guard, I think Tuivasa will be able to hurt Gane. It is worth the bet when someone as dangerous as Tuivasa is a +400 underdog.
UFC Pick: Tuivasa (+400)
