In the co-main event slot for the upcoming Fight Night card on the UFC schedule, we have the honor of watching UFC veterans Tim Means (32-13-1) and Max Griffin (18-9) go toe-to-toe in the octagon on Saturday night.
To properly do a Means vs Griffin betting analysis, we need to break down both their styles and potential outcomes of this fight.
Last Fight Record
Tim Means is coming off a tough submission loss to Kevin Holland back in June of this year. Max Griffin is also coming off a loss earlier this year, but he was to Neil Magny.

Means vs. Griffin Betting Analysis
Tim Means
Tim Means is an experienced former GLORY kickboxer that has had some success in MMA over his long career.
If you see Means in a UFC fight, it most likely looked a lot like a kickboxing bout with some slick elbows and a takedown mixed in.
Even though he has created a great style in MMA for himself, he has gotten caught in submissions over the last few fights of his career. Will Max Griffin be a submission threat? Probably not.
Means is also 38 years old, there comes a time when your age catches up to you in the octagon, and we never really know until it shows during a fight.
Expectations for Means
The weight cut and things of that nature might be able to show us something about how Means will look on Saturday night at this age.
No matter what anyone says, Tim Means has some of the highest-level strikings in the UFC. He just lacks the signature wins throughout his career to break him into the spotlight and the top of the welterweight division.
There isn’t a fight that is boring with Means in the octagon.
Max Griffin
Max Griffin is also a UFC veteran with quite a bit of experience in the octagon. Without a signature win, he is in a very similar place as Tim Means right now in the welterweight division. This is a great fight for the fans and a big test for Griffin.
Griffin’s Style
Griffin is very good at absorbing shots while walking down his opponent, trying to land a big right hand. For example, his fight against Song Kenan was the embodiment of Griffin’s style.
He walked Kenan down from the start, absorbing kicks and parrying punches until he landed two big shots that ended the fight in a hurry.
A World-class striker
This will be an interesting UFC fight with a world-class striker standing in front of Griffin. It will be a challenge for Griffin to cut off the octagon and keep walking down Means for the whole 15 minutes.
Griffin will need to safely absorb the jab and crafty combinations with elbows that Means will throw at high volume.
The speed and power advantage goes to Griffin. So at any point in this fight, Griffin can set up a big right hand that can really change the outcome of this fight and even steals rounds on the scorecards.

Tim Means vs. Max Griffin Betting Preview
After the Means vs Griffin betting analysis, let’s look at the odds for this matchup. Tim Means is the betting underdog at +155, according to UFC odds. Griffin is the favorite at -180.
The over/under is set at 2.5 rounds, with the under in plus odds. This line comes from the fact that both fighters just don’t get finished.
They are both very durable men that take shots very well. Means might not have the power to turn someone’s lights off, but Griffin does.
Means has gotten finished by submission in two of his last five fights. The prop bet for Griffin winning by submission is +1200. That might be something to look at if you want to get creative with your bet slip this weekend.
Co-main Fight
It is great to have a co-main fight like this at smaller UFC events because of the high-level fighting that will be on display.
Both fighters can get in a war and will show how much heart they have out there on Saturday night. The high-level fighting from both sides is what makes this such a tough fight to predict too.
Means vs. Griffin Betting Predictions
When making UFC predictions this weekend, this is one of the matchups that I usually stay away from. The odds don’t make you jump out of your seat, and the fight is just so close.
Means will come out with a lot of volumes, and Griffin will continue to put pressure on and absorb shots, as we said in the Means vs Griffin betting analysis portion.
Most Profitable Fighter to Bet On
This fight might be a lot like Rob Font against Chito Vera. Go back and watch how Chito walked down Font and absorbed his best shots, and then landed the damaging shots at the end of the rounds.
This kind of style can surely steal rounds on scorecards. With this only being three rounds, Griffin is going to have to get busy sooner and more often against Means.
The prediction is that Means will start off well, but Griffin will be landing the bigger shots and hurting Means more often. It will be a close decision in Griffin’s favor.
UFC Pick: Max Griffin (-180)
