UFC 279 is taking place on September 10 in Las Vegas. The T-Mobile Arena will be jumping for stars like Nate Diaz and Khamzat Chimaev, but don’t forget about the other fights on the main card that you can win money on.
Parlays can be a fun way to win easy money with good odds. The following will be an interesting 2-fight UFC 279 parlay to look at on the main card of this PPV event this weekend.
Johnny Walker vs. Ion Cutelaba
Johnny Walker
Walker (18-7) has had a very interesting UFC career so far. He made a lot of noise in his first few fights in the octagon with his crazy style and impressive finishes.
Then he changed camps and tried to take a more technical approach to fighting, and that seemed to only do negative things for his performance.
Now Walker changed camps again, training in Thailand for the majority of this fight camp, and says he has made some big leaps in his striking game.
Step Down in Competition
This is an important fight for the young fighter because he finally gets a step down in competition. Walker has lost a lot as of late, but he has also faced the likes of Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill at the top of the light heavyweight division.
I think he is facing a guy that is also struggling recently against the lower-level competition. This is a very winnable fight for Walker, and it is plus money odds.
Ion Cutelaba
Ion Cutelaba (16-7-1) could just be the perfect dance partner for Johnny Walker. Cutelaba’s style leads to him getting hit a lot.
He will come forward and absorb strikes just to land his shots on his opponent. This might be the perfect storm for Johnny Walker’s instincts to take over, and he can make this an exciting fight.
Cutelaba’s Technical Disadvantage
I think even before this last fight camp, Cutelaba is at a technical disadvantage to Walker. The big factor in this fight is who will be able to let their hands go first.
Cutelaba seems to always be able to show up in the octagon and go for it with the same mentality. But, Walker has seemed way more hesitant to get offensive in his attacks as of late.
Cutelaba is always dangerous, but I just think Johnny Walker is due and hungry for a big win to get himself back on track. It is a perfect pick for the first leg of a UFC 279 parlay.
UFC Pick: Johnny Walker (+170)
Kevin Holland vs. Daniel Rodriguez
Kevin Holland
Kevin Holland is back again in the UFC octagon, which basically means we are in for another exciting scrap this weekend.
This bout will be at a catchweight, and that means Holland will have a very comfortable weight cut. This was put together so fast that we don’t really know how good of shape Daniel Rodriguez is as of right now.
Holland will be at a length advantage, and he knows how to use it. He has sniper-like shots that land from a distance with his quick hands and long legs. I think using his front kick and straight shots down the middle will win this fight for him.
Rodriguez is one of the toughest dudes in the UFC, so for this leg of the parlay, I have something interesting for both the value of the bet and my prediction on how the fight will play out.
Daniel Rodriguez
Daniel Rodriguez has been on a great run in the UFC as of late. With 3-straight wins in 2021, he is finally making his 2022 debut. The question marks are for sure on why this is a catchweight bout exactly, and how good in shape D-Rod is in.
Rodriguez has a great guard and is as durable as UFC fighters can be. The number 1 thing I am looking at in breaking down this fight: he has never been finished.
And even at 35 years old, I still think it will be tough to get him out of there. Holland will win this fight if he stays disciplined, but I think it will go the distance.
After going through all these factors, I am going to make this leg of the parlay a prop bet. Kevin Holland will win this via decision, which only makes this pick a better value.
You can for sure get solid value at the Holland moneyline, but why not make this a little more exciting?
UFC Pick: Kevin Holland to win by decision (+225)
UFC Parlay Pick
I have a lot of confidence in this UFC 279 parlay, and I am very excited about UFC predictions like this. I think both of these are UFC picks I would make on a single bet slip, but putting them together makes some seriously valuable odds.
The bet slip odds for this parlay are +778, and that is just too good to pass up. Johnny Walker will let his athleticism take over and beat Cutelaba.
While Holland will pick Rodriguez apart from the outside to a decision victory, probably 30-27 on the judges’ scorecards. Good luck!
UFC Parlay Pick: Two Legged Parlay (+778)
