Cory Sandhagen vs. Rob Font Betting Analysis
Cory Sandhagen
Sandhagen has been at the top of the bantamweight division for about four years now. With his only losses being at the hands of former and current champions. He is a lengthy 5’11” with a 70” reach and has a record of 16-4 with seven TKO/KO wins and four submissions.
“Sandman” has seemingly evolved into a better all-around mixed martial artist and continues to improve every time he steps foot in the octagon. He averages 5.98 significant strikes landed and 3.90 significant strikes absorbed per minute in the UFC, along with adding some very solid wrestling to his offensive game.
Rob Font
Font is a tough New Englander boxer that reminds a lot of us of his training partner Calvin Kattar. With his slick style of boxing, along with great cardio and constant pressure, Font is one of the most dangerous fighters in the bantamweight division.
He’s 20-6 with nine TKO/KOs and four submissions in his professional career. In the UFC, Font averages a whopping 6.46 significant strikes landed per minute while absorbing 4.03 significant strikes in that minute as well. He will also change levels, and he lands 1.01 takedowns per 15 minutes in the octagon.
Updates
No injuries have been reported to the UFC.
Cory Sandhagen vs. Rob Font Betting Preview
Before getting to the proper Sandhagen vs Font prediction, we have to find the best UFC odds available for this bout. A great betting line can make your bet even better and justify a prediction even more.
Sandhagen is coming in as the big betting favorite at -350 compared to Font at +285. The over/under is set at 4.5 rounds even. Sandhagen is actually favored to win inside the distance at -110, while Font is +600 to do the same.
Stylistic Battle
From a technical standpoint, Sandhagen is just about the toughest matchup that Font could possibly take, especially on short notice. Font has a plodding-forward style with a high guard and a great stiff jab. But Sandhagen has arguably the best footwork in the entire division, and that can give Font lots of trouble.
Go back and watch the Sandhagen vs. Petr Yan fight from 2021 and look at how good Sandhagen looked early on in that fight. It’s tough to imagine that Font will have any more of an answer to his unpredictable style than Yan did.
The key to victory over Font as the underdog is to catch Sandhagen heavy and finish the fight. He won’t be able to out-strike him over 25 minutes. Or Font can switch it up a bit and level change more than usual to get Sandhagen to think about that more–which would theoretically drop his hands and open up that big right hand from Font.
Cory Sandhagen vs. Rob Font Betting Prediction
UFC predictions for a fight like this are almost impossible to make. So many things can happen once those octagon doors close, and it’s 1-on-1 combat.
- The Sandhagen vs Font prediction is that Sandhagen will get his hand raised on Saturday night.
He just has a tough style to beat, and it’s perfect for beating a guy like Font. This might be a very one-sided fight, but if you like Font, you should go with him finishing Sandhagen inside the distance at +600.
The best bet to make is this ending inside the distance at -150. Either Font will catch Sandhagen, or Font will get finished in the 4th or 5th rounds due to exhaustion and a flurry of shots from Snadhagen.
