Both the Atlanta Dream and Minnesota Lynx have what is believed to be quality youth on their roster. But they are still getting acclimated to the league, and there are some decent veterans on each team, but enough to carry either to the top of the WNBA standings.
Making Dream vs Lynx picks are for the hardcore WNBA fans who are looking at that development moving forward. Each team finished 14-22 last season and were one game out of the final playoff spot.
Perhaps the teams will improve drastically, but they each have started out 0-1, so somebody will get their first win of the season. Here is a breakdown of each team, odds, a betting preview and Dream vs Lynx picks.

Atlanta Dream vs. Minnesota Lynx Betting Preview
Atlanta Dream
The Dream seemingly have a star in guard Rhyne Howard, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-78 opening loss to the Dallas Wings on Saturday. Cheyenne Parker added 18 points and 11 rebounds, while veteran Asia Durr scored 12 points in 18 minutes. Rookie Haley Jones out of Stanford made her WNBA debut and had an impact in five minutes with one rebound, one assists, and one steal despite being held scoreless.
Perhaps that result shows the Atlanta Dream standings will not be as bad because the Wings are a quality playoff team who could finish in the top half of the league. Despite giving up 85 points, the Dream limited the Wings to 36.5% shooting from the field, which ranks fifth league-wide, and grabbed 45 rebounds, which is second.
They will be without guard Danielle Robinson (knee) on Tuesday and center Iliana Rupert, who remains suspended. Forward Monique Billings is questionable with an ankle injury.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx shot an abysmal 33.3% from the field and 25.0% on 3-pointers in a 77-66 loss to a Chicago Sky team who is not what they once were. Making a team look like championship contenders is not great, and the Lynx are in danger of doing that again.
Napheesa Collier scored 17 points on 35.7% shooting and had four blocks, but also had five turnovers. Kayla McBride added 12 points and five rebounds. Perhaps the biggest encouragement was rookie Diamond Miller going for nine points, seven rebounds, and two assists across 22 minutes.
Miller, who is out of Maryland, is a versatile wing with good quickness and can be physical. Her versatility could be a core piece for a Lynx rebuild that also saw rookie Dorka Juhasz play 14 minutes and net five points and three rebounds.
But to make Minnesota Lynx picks, the team has to improve, and playing against one of the worst defenses – it is very early in the season still – could help them even out. But it is trending as if WNBA news of personnel changes could come early for the Lynx, who look to retool their roster.
Atlanta Dream vs. Minnesota Lynx Betting Picks
Still, the public Dream vs Lynx picks have 67% of bets on Minnesota and a split on the over/under. The Lynx have won six of the last seven outright and covered two straight against the Dream. But the Dream had a stronger showing in their season opener.
The over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings, and the Lynx are 14-6 against the spread in the last 20 meetings at home.
- But this line feels off, so we will take Dream +2 and +110 outright.
