The New York Jets will travel to Gillette Stadium on Sunday afternoon to take on the New England Patriots in an AFC East matchup. The Jets are 1-4 this season and are coming off a bye week but lost to the Atlanta Falcons in London 27-20.
Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson finished 19-of-32 for 192 yards with an interception. The Patriot are 2-4 and are coming off a 35-29 home overtime loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Rookie quarterback Mac Jones finished going 15-of-21 for 229 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
Davis Carrying the Load
The New York Jets have been struggling offensively, but wide receiver Corey Davis has been doing well this season as he has 20 catches for 302 yards (15.1 yards per reception) with three touchdowns. In his last game against the Atlanta Falcons, Davis finished with four receptions on seven targets for 45 yards (11.3 yards per catch). If he can figure out how to step up offensively, it will really help the Jets offense.
The New York Jets have been a decent defensive team as they are allowing 24.2 points per game so far. In their previous game against the Atlanta Falcons, they gave up 27 points on 450 total yards of offense (342 passing, 108 rushing).
The Jets need to force the punt teams on as the Falcons finished going 9-of-14 on third down and converted their only fourth-down attempt. If they can figure out how to continue improving defensively, it will really help New York improve.
Ground and Pound
The New England Patriots have been running the ball effectively as running back Damien Harris has 81 carries for 331 yards (4.1 yards per rush) and three touchdowns, as well as eight catches for 53 yards (6.6 yards per reception). In his last game against the Dallas Cowboys, Harris finished with 18 carries for 101 yards (5.6 yards per attempt) and a rushing touchdown, and a seven-yard reception. If he can continue to run as well as he has been, it will do wonders for the Patriots.
The New England Patriots have been doing pretty well defensively this season as they are giving up 21.2 points per game. In their previous game against the Dallas Cowboys, they allowed 35 points on 567 total yards of offense (445 passing, 122 rushing).
The Patriots did a great job of getting stops as the Cowboys went 3-of-13 on third down and 2-of-4 on fourth down. If the Patriots can force less than 6.9 yards per play in this game, they will be in a great position.
Who to Bet on Jets at Patriots?
The New England Patriots have dominated the New York Jets as the Patriots are looking to sweep the season series for a sixth consecutive season. Zach Wilson has seen what Bill Belichick can throw at him defensively already, so he is more prepared for it, and the Jets can be better here.
Mac Jones has a bit of a turnover issue as he has recorded an interception in each of the last four games. However, the Jets could improve here coming off their bye week. The Patriots are 1-4 against the spread as a home favorite and 3-7 against the spread in their last ten games overall. All in all, go with the New York Jets to cover the spread on the road as it seems to be a good chance here.
