Let’s see which team is the one who takes the win on this Cardinals at Jaguars betting Preview.
Teams headed in opposite directions meet at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville on Sunday. Arizona, one of the up-and-coming teams in the NFC, brings a 2-0 record into its Week 3 meeting with Jacksonville. The Jaguars have lost 17 straight games after last week’s 23-13 loss to Denver.
The Cardinals had a little luck on their side last week as Minnesota missed a 37-yard game-winning field goal attempt as time expired. The fortunate break came a week after an impressive dismantling of the Tennessee Titans in the season-opener.
Game Odds
Arizona is a 7.5-point favorite in this one, according to Sportsbooks, with both teams having -110 odds to cover the spread. Sportsbooks also has the Over/Under set at 51.5 points with -110 odds on either side of the number.
Player of the Week
After completing 29 of 36 passes for 400 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Minnesota, Cardinals’ third-year quarterback Kyler Murray was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week. It was the fifth time winning the award in his young career, which ties Kurt Warner and Patrick Peterson for the most times in franchise history.
For the season, Murray is 50-for-68 passing with 689 yards and seven touchdowns. The seven touchdowns are second in the league, while his passing yardage ranks third in the league.
Not in College Anymore
Both Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawerence had impressive resumes during their tenure in the college ranks. Both have struggled to adapt to the NFL game so far. The two losses match Lawerences’ total during his entire career at Clemson. Lawrence is tied with fellow rookie Zach Wilson for the league-lead in interceptions with five.
Lawrence has tossed four touchdowns to go along with 450 yards on the season but has only completed 50 percent of his passes (42 of 84).
Meyer, who won three National Championships in college with Florida and Ohio State, was caught on the mic after Sunday’s loss saying, “it’s like facing Alabama every week” in reference to the NFL game.
Immediate Impact
One rookie who has not struggled in the transition to the NFL has been Arizona’s, Rondale Moore. Through the first two games, Moore has more receptions (11) and yards (182) than All-Pro teammate DeAndre Hopkins. Moore leads the team in both categories, while Hopkins leads the team with three touchdowns.
No Room to Run
Lawerence could benefit if the Jags can find a way to get their running game on track. The Jags rank 26th in rushing yards per game with 75. James Robinson leads the team with 72 yards on 16 totes for the season. Carlos Hyde, who led the team in rushing in the opener with 44 yards, tallied just seven yards in the Week 2 loss.
Other Team Leaders
Chase Edmonds leads the Cardinals’ ground game with 109 yards on 20 carries while he has also added 72 yards receiving.
Maxx Williams hauled in a career-best seven receptions and 94 yards in last week’s win to emerge as the top tight end, while Christina Kirk is third on the team with 135 receiving yards.
Marvin Jones leads the Jags with 11 receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns, while James O’Shaugnessy has grabbed seven passes for 72 yards.
Trends
Arizona is just 3-8 against the spread in its last 11 games, while the Under has hit in the last seven road contests.
Jacksonville is 1-5 ATS in its last six games overall, and the Over has hit in the last eight games against teams from the NFC West.
