Monday, Oct. 3
Here’s a look at some interesting facts about NFL Week 4 matchups.
London Calling
The NFL started its international series in 2007, partnering with Wembley Stadium in London, England, to bring one or more games overseas.
Previously, the NFL had the Tokoyo Bowl in the preseason, but never anything as consistent as the current setup. The two teams set to play in this Week 4 matchup are the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Both the Saints and Vikings will have new head coaches this season and will be undergoing a major overhaul. Minnesota still has quarterback Kirk Cousins, while New Orleans still has questions about who will be their signal-caller. The international series will also head to Germany this season.
Both Minnesota and New Orleans are 2-0 in London.
Other Important Matchups
- Kansas City will head to Tampa Bay for a Super Bowl LV rematch. The Buccaneers won that meeting in the big game by a comfortable margin of 31-9. With Tom Brady back in the fold, Tampa Bay plans to compete again this season. Kansas City, likewise, plans to be one of the AFC’s top teams.
- Indianapolis missed the playoffs following a devastating collapse to last season. The Colts are hoping a Week 4 home win over the Titans could give them a leg up in the AFC South race. Indianapolis hasn’t won the division since the 2015 season.
- A meeting between quarterbacks Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen should excite the fans in Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium. Jackson and Allen were both selected in the first round of the NFL Draft and have helped their teams be consistent contenders. Allen has the head-to-head edge in playoff victories. Allen led the Bills to a 17-3 win over Baltimore during the 2021 AFC Divisional round.
- A rematch of the NFC Championship game will take place on Monday night in Santa Clara. The 49ers swept Los Angeles in the regular season last season before losing a late lead in a 20-17 loss in the playoffs.
