  • League: Belgian First Division A

Club Brugge, also referred to as Club Bruges, is one of the teams that can make it into the champions league schedule. Once they can win the Belgium Pro League, the team will get automatic placement in the following season’s champions league standings. Club Brugge has had many experiences in the UCL, and we expect many more in the future.

They are one of the best teams in Belgium and currently the second most successful, following Anderlecht. They share the Jan Breydel stadium with city rivals, Cercle Brugge. And throughout its history, Club Brugg has enjoyed some incredible successes that have pushed them to become one of the top teams in history.

Club Brugge History

Their story started in 1890 when students from Broeders Xaverianen and Koninklijk Atheneum combined to form the Brugsche Football club. One year after that, the club was reformed under the Brugsche FC, becoming the official foundation of the team we have today. It wasn’t until 1891 that their story truly started taking form.

The team continued to grow, eventually earning multiple accolades, winning their first trophy in 1920. This victory was celebrated by a name change to the Royal FC Brugeois. And this history is still a part of the club’s name, with the current official team name using the suffix KV, which stands for Koninklijke Vereniging, translated to Royal Club in English.

Club Brugge Records

Club Bruges has had many accolades in Belgium. They’ve won many exciting trophies since they started their journey in 1891. Although it wasn’t until the 1919/1920 season before they won their first major trophy, the team has since made a massive impact on the local competitions, but they still struggle in Europe.

Club Brugge’s stats show that the team still has some exciting things to offer in Belgium. However, they would need to do better in the UEFA Champions League and other European competitions if they want to stretch their reach and impact beyond their national league, the Belgian First Division A.

The team has had some new arrivals and has seen some old players leave. Below is a list of some of the top arrivals and departures.

  • Arrivals: Roman Yaremchuk, Cyle Larin, Raphael Onyedika, Bjorn Meijer, and Casper Nielsen
  • Departures: Charles De Ketelaere, Stanley Nsoki, Lois Openda, Jack Hendry, and David Okereke
