In May 1948, the club’s story started with APOEL football club’s governing board sending a telegram to the H.A.A.A ( Hellenic Association of Amateur Athletics). The club was created due to players getting expelled during the Greek Civil War and political unrest. The new club became Omonia Nicosia.
After a while, the team started competing at the top level, and in no time, they joined the Cypriot First Division. They were seventh in the 1953-54 season. However, that didn’t deter the team, as they could avoid relegation. Finally, they entered their golden era in the 1970s and 80s. They declined in the 90s but were revived in the 2000s.
