Team History

Sheffield United Football Club is a professional association football club based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The club was formed in 1889 and competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. Sheffield United have won the First Division championship once, in 1925, and the FA Cup twice, in 1902 and 1915. The club have also won the League Cup once, in 1992, and the Community Shield twice, in 1925 and 1992.

Entering to EFL

Sheffield United were one of the founding members of the Football League in 1888. The club have played in the top flight of English football for most of their history, with the exception of a period of time in the 1970s and 1980s when they played in the Second Division. Sheffield United were relegated to the Championship in 2014, but they won promotion back to the Premier League in 2019.

Team Records

Sheffield United’s all-time leading goalscorer is Billy Bremner, who scored 208 goals for the club in all competitions. Bremner also holds the record for the most appearances for Sheffield United, with 773 appearances. The club’s record win is a 12-0 victory over Lincoln City in the Second Division in 1929. Sheffield United’s record defeat is a 10-0 defeat to Arsenal in the First Division in 1930.

Highest Goal-Scoring

Sheffield United’s highest goalscorer in a single season is Billy Bremner, who scored 43 goals in the Second Division in 1965-66. Bremner also holds the record for the most hat-tricks for Sheffield United, with 10 hat-tricks.

Promotion to EPL

Sheffield United were promoted to the Premier League in 2019 after finishing second in the Championship. The club finished 9th in their first season back in the top flight, and they are currently 14th in the table.
