Team History

The French Ligue 1 is one of the top leagues in Europe, and it has been around for many years now, giving us some incredible moments. One of the teams in the league is Troyes, one of the three teams in the City of Troyes. The club has been around for a few decades and is looking to impact the league.

Although the team hasn’t done a lot of winning in the league, it has some fascinating history that makes it worthwhile. The mid-table team keeps working hard to get closer to the top zones. We expect to see the team improve as they compete in the French Ligue 1 and other domestic competitions.

Troyes General Info

Troyes is one of the three teams in the City. The other local rivals are Troyes AF and AS Troyes-Savinienne. The team is the youngest among the three but has been the better team in the past couple of years. The club’s full name is Esperance Sportive Troyes Aube Champagne. And the nickname is ESTAC.

Troyes plays football in the French Ligue 1 at the Stade de I’Aube, which has a 20,400 seating capacity. The City Football Group owns the club, with Daniel Masoni as the president and Claude Robin as the Interim manager for the 2022-23 French Ligue 1 season.

Troyes History

Before ESTAC Troyes was created, there were different clubs in the city of Troyes. The first club created in the city was Union Sportive Troyenne (UST). After a while, the club merged with AS Savinienne to form the ASTS – Association Sportive Troyenne et Savinienne. The club was successful as they rose to the Premier Division.

However, for many reasons, the club went extinct, and another team was created, ending abruptly after they went bankrupt. Troyes was left without an official pro team until 1986. ESTAC Troyes became the professional club in the city by 1986, and since then, they have been on the rise.

They rose to the fourth division after one season and kept rising before eventually making it into the French Ligue 1. After a few seasons in the league, the team made it to the Intertoto Cup. They even won one after beating Newcastle to the title at St. James’ Park.

Troyes stats show they have faced some hardship that saw them drop to the lower divisions, but they fought hard and are back at the top level after the 2020-21 Ligue 2 season.

Troyes Records

The team has impressive records as they’ve bounced from the lower division to the highest level and back. They are an exciting team, and from Troyes stats, you can see that the team has been excellent for a while now. The records are there to see, with one in the UEFA Intertoto Cup.

In 2001, the team went on to become one of the French teams to win a European title as they defeated Newcastle United by away goals after getting a 4-4 aggregate. As they won the competition, it bolstered the team, but it wasn’t enough to save them from relegation a few years later. But they soon bounced back, winning the Ligue 2 champions twice.

The owners have added some new players to the group to ensure that Troyes betting is worthwhile this season and that the team can have a spot in the top division next season. Also, some of the old players left for other teams. In that case, below are some of the top departures and arrivals during the last transfer window.

Top Arrivals: Lucien Agoume, Savio, Ike Ugbo, Rony Lopes, Jackson Porozo
Top Departures: Giulian Biancone, Metinho, Jimmy Giraudon, Dylan Chambost, Rui Pires
