Current Squad / Roster

Iran is one of the Asian teams to have secured a spot in Qatar’s 2022 FIFA World Cup. The team is set to play in Group B with England, USA, and Wales, putting them in a tough group. It would take some hard work before Iran could make it out of the group to the knockout stages.

As we prepare for the world cup, let’s take an in-depth look at the Iran national team and how they’ve fared in the competition. In addition, we want to look at the team roster and their FIFA World Cup schedule in the competition.

Iran FIFA World Cup Future Odds

Iran’s FIFA World Cup odds of winning the competition are currently at +80000. The team is not one of the favorites to win the competition, and they are also not part of the teams tipped to qualify for the next round. Most pundits expect Iran to finish last in Group B, given the teams in the group.

As a result, their odds of qualifying from Group B are +450 for those that want to engage in Iran soccer team betting. It would take a lot of work for the team to make it out of the group after the third game because they don’t have top talents compared to the other teams. They would have to work as a team and avoid making unnecessary mistakes when they play.

FIFA World Cup Iran’ Record

Iran is one of the teams that hasn’t had much impact on the FIFA World Cup. The team has only been part of the competition on six occasions. Their first appearance was in 1978. Then, it was after 20 years before they made it to the competition again.

After their appearance in 1998, they qualified in 2006, 2014, 2018, and 2022. They’ve been more consistent since missing the World Cup in South Africa.

Historical Events

The team’s historical moment at the World Cup was when they scored their first goal after the first game. Danaeifard scored the equalizer to give Iran their first point in the competition. Even though they didn’t make it out of the group, it was an epic moment for the Iranian national team.

In France ‘98, they won the competition after beating the United States team, but unfortunately, it was not enough for the team to qualify after losing two games. The team hasn’t gone beyond the group rounds since they made their first appearance.

The best the team has done in the competition is to take four points in their group. Their personal best came in the 2018 World Cup competition. They were close to qualifying for the next round, but they couldn’t beat Portugal in the last game.

The goal from Quaresma was enough to send the Portuguese to the next round, and Iran went out of the competition. They would have another opportunity to play in the competition and try to make it into the knockout phase.

Iran has produced some players that have gone on to have some impact on the FIFA World Cup betting stats. These players’ records are there, and we are looking forward to who will join this hall of Famers. One of the most historical players for Iran at the world cup is Ali Daei, who has five appearances for the team.

Mehdi Mahdavikia, Andranik Teymourian, Alireza Jahanbakhsh, and Ehsan Hajsafi still hold the most appearances for the team at the FIFA World Cup.

Iran’s Fun Facts In Previous World Cups

Iran scored their most goals in a FIFA World Cup competition in the last one. They also had their most points ever. The previous world cup was the second time they finished third in their group. The first time was in the 1998 FIFA World Cup competition.

Team Squad for the 2022 World Cup

Expected FIFA World Cup Team Roster

The Iran World Cup team might not have top or famous European players. However, they are set to play as a team, making them a formidable team that other top teams have to be wary about. Below are some players we believe would make it into the squad list of players going to the World Cup.

World Cup Schedule

Iran would be playing in the Group B of the FIFA World Cup groups, and they would be playing England, Wales, and the USA for a chance to make it to the competition’s knockout phase. This lineup is certainly a tough one for the team. They would have to face England in the first game.

After that, they would play Wales, and in the final game of the group, they will be playing the US team. They would need to win at least two games to qualify for the knockout phase. And if they make it to the next round, they would have to face either Senegal, Qatar, Ecuador, or the Netherlands.
