Torino F.C. is a club with a proud history, even if they have not lived up to that history over recent years. All-time Torino stats feature plenty of championship seasons, despite the fact that the present day Serie A odds do not have them as a team capable of challenging Italy’s elite. Here, we look at the history of this club and what bettors should know before doing any Torino betting this season.

Torino General info

Torino is a club that is based in Turin, a city in the region of Piedmont in the Northwest portion of Italy. They play the home games on the Torino schedule at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, a venue in the city that holds just under 28,000 fans. They currently play in Serie A, as they have been participating in Serie A matchups for the vast majority of their history.

Torino History

Torino FC was founded in 1906 and was one of the original members of Serie A in the 1920s. Their Serie A betting stats were once among the best in Italy year in and year out, as they won title after title in the early days of the top league in Italy. Since then, they have settled in as a consistent member of the Italian top-flight despite not winning any recent titles.

Torino Records

All-time leaders in several Torino stats categories tend to belong to the more successful era in club history, which came before the modern era of the sport. A perfect example is the all-time appearances leader for the club, midfielder Giorgio Ferrini, whose career with the club spanned three different decades. He logged 556 appearances between 1959 and 1975.

The all-time leading goal scorer for Torino is also a member of its past, as Paolo Pulici holds that honor. He scored 170 career goals at Torino from 1967 to 1982, and is one of just eight players to score 100 or more goals at the club. At this time, no active squad member is anywhere near that exclusive club.

Championship won by Torino

Torino has finished at the top of the Serie A standings seven times in their history, with the most recent championship coming in the 1975-76 season. They have also taken down five Coppa Italia titles in their history, with the most recent of those coming in the 1992-93 campaign.

Historical Events

In terms of all-time great events in Torino history, the club’s run to the UEFA Cup final has to be considered among the best of them. The team lost in the final of what is now known as the Europa League to Ajax. But they also beat Real Madrid in the semifinal round to reach that final, an achievement that will always be among the best in club history even if it didn’t end with a trophy.

There were several quality managers in the history of Torino, with their most successful managers coming in the 1940s when the club was at its peak. Luigi Ferrero may be the best of those managers, winning two Serie A titles in the 1945-46 and 1946-47 seasons. No other manager in club history has won multiple Serie A titles in one stint with the club.
