Shakhtar Donetsk General Info

Shakhtar Donetsk plays football in the Ukrainian Premier League and other continental competitions, depending on where they finished the previous season. The team has had some exciting records over the years, and their incredible run has shown that you can always engage in Shakhtar Donetsk betting.

Their official ground is the Donbass Arena in Donetsk, but they’ve had to move around a bit, and now they make their trade at the NSC Olimpiyskiy, after playing in Lviv between 2014 and 2016 and Kharkiv from 2017 to 2020. Shakhtar Donetsk History

The club’s history dates back to the 3rd of April, 1936, making it one of the oldest teams in the country. It was originally formed on the All-Union Council on physical culture and sports decisions. Initially, the team was called Stakhanovets, and they played their first game in the 1936 Cup of the Ukrainian SSR against Dynamo Odessa.

It has been a flurry of games since then, and they’ve been part of the historical rise of the Ukrainian league since its creation. The team has won many trophies, including a European cup. However, it wasn’t until the 1960/61 season that the team got its first major trophy, which was the defunct Soviet Cup.
